I should point out that the head of the snaps are under the layer of leather, there is not a brass head at the top and bottom like I see on other jackets.

As you may noted from this thread I replaced the soles and heals on my boots back in April 09 and have, pretty much, been wearing them every day since and closely observing the uppers. I'm happy to report that the uppers are holding up very well. I've not been gentle with them either. Working on an ...

I got a Downtowner in a trade with a fellow COWer, it arrived today. I love the color. However when I opened the box the first thing I noticed was the size of the hat. Not the fit, of course I knew the size of the hat long before it arrived. I mean it's just a big hat. Taller, wider ... compared to ...

Wow ... so many memories... I had this brown fedora I had bought in a vintage clothing store in 1977, took it with me to both my tours in Germany. Mine is a Wested horse hide (though not a custom) I got in brand new condition from a fellow COWer some months back. It's a 44. Pinching mine at each shoulder seam and laying it flat the front and rear line up almost perfectly. When worn it appears the rear is about 1.5 inches shorter then the front.

Just a real world note ... I have a beaver felt fedora manufactured in about 1952 that I've worn since 1974. It's ragged out. There's a hole where it pinches in the front, and despite several bollockings it's lost it nice clean shape. Nothing lasts forever.

Ahhh ... I dun-no. The hat he receives from "Fedora" is not the same hat, it is definitely not the same bash, I don't think its as tall a crown and the brim seems wider to me. If we're taking the books as Cannon, this latest book "Army of the Dead" states the hat is the one he go...

Yeah, the Govt got wise to people removing and repainting the muzzle breaks and fixed the law. Now you have to saw the orange part off. Which of course ruins the look of your "gun."

My understanding is that the orange tip must be integral to the "toy," not removable and made of a plastic to which paint will not adhere. We have two AirSoft M-16's and an AK-47. The muzzle breaks are made of this orange plastic. We have primed and painted them but the paint just rubs off...
