Replace the lining of your Indy jacket?
Has anyone done this, or thought to replace your stock nylon lining interior with something warmer such as fleece or flannel? If so, where would one go to get this done?

I took one of my jackets to a tailor and asked if this could be done. The price tag was beyond shocking! So I asked at several other tailor shops, the price did not vary significantly!

I got a 2nd hand USW goat re-lined with black cotton. The cotton was about £5 and it cost about £20 to get it relined in Brick Lane, London. It was a really good job and a LOT better than the horrible orange nylon USW used to use. Yuk!

Yeah, it can be done, but it will cost you. Do your research on tailors to see how much experience they have with leather. This is a big job that is best done by those with experience.

If you locate the fabric, it should be affordable. Where I am it costs under $100 to have done - and they supply strong drill cotton...

I had a go at putting a new lining in my Todds jacket myself.
I used a Cotton shirt, cut the collar off and sewed the whole shirt into the jacket(I sewed the sleeves only at the bottom of the cuffs)-worked out quite well!-not technically difficult but a LOT of sewing.

I had my cotton lining replace a few months back with a slicker material. It only set me back $25. It was incredibly cheap because I called around and found a seamstress that specialized in wedding dresses and leather. She's just getting her business started on her own and had mine complete in under a week. She did an amazing job and the price was incredible.
