The NEW 404/403 Alden Indy Boots are showing up!
They are starting to show up in a number of places. Do a Google search for Alden 403 or 404.
Man I sooo want a pair of 403s with the 404's lug sole.

Nice I was kind of wondering Alden would be releasing these awesome boots, personally I may go with a pair of 404's next. Would be nice to have a pair of boots without the flat sole, but I guess I may wait to see what the price is eventually.

Wow that is a long time, geesh. I guess I will have to wait till around x-mas or maybe this summer then. Thanks for the info schmidty, good to see you around here. Maybe I will get a pair from you, Chicago is not that far of a drive from where I live.schmidty612 wrote:I just tried to order a pair for a customer last week (10 D) and they are ALREADY back ordered 10 to 12 weeks.

Don't these 405s look darker then most 405s? They almost look like the new 403s.
$345 seems like a fair price.

Good call! Hopefully it's not just the lighting because I would definitely buy a pair if that is the true color

So... Other than Todd's there are no boots like this that cost less than a car payment?

I've emailed them about the color. They do have the word "chestnut" next to 405 so hopefully they did in fact request a batch with a darker color.knibs7 wrote:Good call! Hopefully it's not just the lighting because I would definitely buy a pair if that is the true color

Good deal! That would be awesome if they really were a darker color because then I wouldn't have to get the 403s and could stick with the original 405slantzn wrote:I've emailed them about the color. I think it is the lighting, it is inside, plus kind of shaded where he shot the photo. They look almost like the 405's I got in 2007, I think the 403's look darker, from photos schmidty posted in a different thread, but hey that is just me. I would like to see the shoes/boots in a brighter lighting setting.knibs7 wrote:Good call! Hopefully it's not just the lighting because I would definitely buy a pair if that is the true color

Well here's a shot of all three in the same setting and the 403s are way darker then the 405s. So which of these three shoes looks closer in color to that shoe? I still thinks the 403 is the closest.IndianaChris711 wrote:I think it is the lighting, it is inside, plus kind of shaded where he shot the photo. I agree, the 403s are definitely darker, but if the 405s that you found are truly that color, I would go with them, solely because they are 405s, just like the originals.

Aside from the color shown of the 403 compaired to th 405, is there any difference between them? They look the same to me....
Re: The NEW 404/403 Alden Indy Boots are showing up!
They look exactly the same, aside from the color.
I believe the only difference is the inside of the boots are leather, like they used to make em.

Shoemart looks like they're offering the 403's as well as a black Indy boot.

Really, I will have to check a pair out first hand then.. As for the color the 405's will get dark like the 403s with some neatsfoot oil.Indy_1971 wrote:They look exactly the same, aside from the color.

I've been kicking around the idea of my next "big" purchase being Aldens, and the 403's really have my attention. Does anyone actually have a pair in hand?

Re: The NEW 404/403 Alden Indy Boots are showing up!
So I've been looking at the 404's.
Alden 404
But they don't have my size, and they said it'd take 6-8 weeks to get it in my size. Anyone know a place?
I did find it at TheShoeMart here
But I read some reviews of ShoeMart that makes me kinda weary. Does anyone have any experiences to share? I e-mailed and asked if their 404 was of the exact same quality as the ones at Blackbird, but no response yet. Or if someone knows that these are definitely the same quality, then... hey.

Okay, so here's what I want to know: I just ordered a pair of 403's. On the second link above, Shoemart shows a 40514H and a 403. Except for the slighly faded look of the photograph making the 403 appear lighter in color, they look IDENTICAL, the 403 is called "Brown Analine Pullup" ($378) and the 40514H is called "Brown Chrome Excel" ($450).
I paid $378 from the Alden shop in SF for a pair of 403's. A few months ago, this same Shoemart website only had the "40514H" for $450.
But my understanding has been that the 403 has the "Chrome Excel" leather, etc.
I personally don't feel duped. It seems to me that I got the $450 pair for $378, but I could be wrong. If I am wrong, I may not care because my boots are SWEET, but I don't want to see anyone else out there get ripped off and pay $450 for a pair of boots they should be paying only $378 for.
Anybody know anything more about this?

Well these guys look like they often custom order from Alden and here's what they have to say.DarenHenryW wrote:Okay, so here's what I want to know: I just ordered a pair of 403's. With the demand of a darker brown color for the #405 Indy boot, Alden introduces #403 & #404 Indy boots. The new #403 will be made in dark brown chromexcel leather (waxed) with neoprene cork soles. It will have all the features of the original but with a new darker and deeper upper leather. The new # 404 will be made in Brown Kudu (oiled and water resistant) which will be made with heavy duty lug rubber soles.
All three Indy boots will be made fully leather lined and will be carried in stock. We look forward to these new arrivals in the first half of 2010. More information on the original Indy boot can be found at the Alden website, here.

Yeah that's a little wonky. Let us know how it turns out and your experience with Shoemart.DarenHenryW wrote:Okay, so here's what I want to know: I just ordered a pair of 403's.
