I might also suggest you look into EC Whips for a very nicely done, reasonably priced, cowhide Indy style whip. And, if Jim is still active, a Whipworks whip would do you very nicely. Hey Paul, I think these are the only pictures I have of them. They were 7 foot, 16 plait with 20 inch handles in natural tan with brandy accents on the knots. I've thrown a couple of Bernardo's whips and a few Morgans in my time. In my opinion, Bernardo's whips have the same balance and feel as a Morgan. They roll right out...BANG, effortlessly. Even in the look, you would almost think it was a Morgan if you just saw one lying around and picked it up.

Outside of almost losing my right ear while learning the Coachman's crack, no. Although that's the crack most likely to make your ears ring, as the whip cracks basically 2 inches from your ear when you get it right.

I don't think you got it wrong. I have just had to Pecard my whip a little more often lately, because I've either cracked it on pavement several times for friends (and saw the results), or it got wet. Pavement??? Cracking on pavement will get your whip taken away in certain parts of the country! :D...
