women just don't get guy stuff and they buy what ever they want whenever they want, I just do it this way to avoid arguments. Given that my wife and I are happier now than 27+ years ago, a little gentle nudge from an old geezer? "Women don't get guy stuff," used to be true but now that I ...

Looking backwards now, it was one of the most exciting times of my life, and Marc's too. But at the time this was going on, we were worn out, totally involved in pleasing Bernie, and really did not have the time to enjoy anything! Marc and I would talk almost daily, and the conversation always star...

Mark allowed the situation to happen more than once, with different media outlets. Yup. But my point, and the one others have stated above, was he is still doing that- himself- on his web-site- today. This is rather a dead issue now, though, and I think many of us just wish it would go away-- we al...

Asking for correction but it seems rather clear.
Indiana G- Good points all. I think more and more one has to wonder at the silence- and thus at the past ambiguities from Mark (as Mulceber and bufflehead Jones have stated). But right now, I'm feeling my comments earlier were too kind - I went to the site for Baron's because I wanted to believe thi...

I must admit, both Marc and I were really tee'd off when we read the Parade article. We were still making the hats!!!! But, I don't say mad forever. Unhealthy to do so. I figure Mark was so disapointed not to get the gig that he was not quite himself during this period. We are all human, with the e...

Always in the middle, (me)
Why? Baron's has been in the hat making business, and a 'goto' in the industry, since before this forum was even created, and well before kitchen sink hatters ever considered making their own. How are they somehow not worthy of making or selling hats now? Their prices are way out there, yes. But......

As I was [slowly] typing the brim question was answered. OK, so this is the hat Henry Jones could buy -- remember guys, the brim wasn't cut back in the 1930's. Yes. And remember this was a special order adjusted to the store's specifications. Apparently with brim added for that terrible San Diego w...

Custom hats are not made to standard sizes because they're, well, custom. That's why Steve has you give him a measurement and Art Fawcett actually sends a halo conformer to you for sizing. Remembering that an Akubra/Stetson/brand-hat is likely destined for a B&M where there are dozens of hats d...

Re: What would I get if I wanted one just like from LC?
If I wanted the _same exact_ hat from LC (like ABs are from KotCS) what would I get? I would want it more as a collectable, the "ultimate screen accurate, THIS is the hat Indy used" kind of thing This sounds about as much like another question as an answer. But is that even possible any m...

Akubra isn't the only option.
It's something I'll definately flipflop between between now and september. But I'll have experience with an Akubra by then. If it's not the same materials I might just go with a stock AB (it would still be 100% screen accurate right?) in my size. Akubras are fine hats, I have a few. Also look at Ca...

I think your wife may just be concerned that the hat she got you will be cast to the wayside. Show her the differences, tell her it is a 100% beaver hat, and beaver is different from rabbit. Each time your wife buys something you would count as frivolous, like a handbag or pair of shoes (of course she might be totally sensible and you are out of luck), put $50 in the fund (or an appropriate equivalent amount), you'll probably get there soon enough. :) The notion of saving for it is gre...
