I have always been intrigued by a nylon whip.

Re: Possible Aldens in Nationwide Ad?
Wow!
That's amazing. I use to OWN a pair (gave them away long time ago) and didn't recognize them. The color looks really good. Mine were a more light orange-tan color and I could never really get them to that Alden brown.
Good to see the color has improved.

Possible Aldens in Nationwide Ad?
Hey all! Long time, no post. I was watching TV last night and a Nationwide ad came on and had a little girl running around in what appears to be Alden 405s. However, upon closer examination there are only three speed laces and not four. https://i.imgur.com/bM2wtnQl.jpg The laces seem correct and the...

Is it safe to where and sweat in this hat? Yes. Mercury was just used to get the finish. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mad_hatter_disease Wikipedia says "In the United States, the mercury-based process continued to be adopted until as late as 1941, when it was abandoned mainly due to the wartim...

Re: Mercury Indy
Is there a rule against resurrecting old threads? Long time, no post. I was trying on some old hats this evening and decided to snap a few pics. (Not of me but the hats.) I realized I hadn't photographed my Mercury Indy in over 10 years. http://6578ae949f6b6be2470e-6d0341d08ebb6765941806beabd6fc07.r...

THANK you, Bill! I've been looking for that picture. Do you recall the year! That's one of the very first 'official' Indyfan summits that ever took place.....Peters Brothers Hat Shop. Regards! Michaelson The year was 2002. (Has it really been THAT long!?!) Here are a few more photos from the event....

Re: Indy 4 Gear...
Steve and Marc are to thank for that. I remember trying to reverse engineer the hat block that would give us the correct shape. We knew the block had to be a certain height but also where the curve started on the block. If it was too low the sides would taper. Too short and you couldn't get the crea...

Adding this link to the collective database. I haven't purchased anything from them but what they do offer appears to be very nice.

I am coming to this thread late too. I had to do a double take to make sure I read the title correctly. I wish I could have known Walt more. He was so very friendly in person. Here is a YouTube link to Walt's instructional video on how to set and attack a popper. This was shot at an IndyGear summit....

Our visit to DM in October.
I just realized I had not shared the visit here. My wife and I were at the shop in Oct 2008. We had a wonderful visit. It was nice to finally meet Mr. Morgan. Everyone there was very friendly. I already own a 10ft so I wasn't in the market for a whip. I did get some really nice leather gloves and An...

Re: It is impossible to own a Raiders HJ.
To me, it is high time we let HJ die...To me, this is liberating in a manner of speaking. I no longer find the name "HJ" as mystical as I did years ago. Agreed 100% Thanks, Steve for bringing this up. When I was going through my hat making process, I found more disappointment than satisfa...

Actually I hate to speak for RelicRaider... but these badges are fairly sturdy. You don't need to baby them like the cheap imitations that are already out there. I have a couple of those as well prior to RR's creations. Those you needed to make sure that nothing else was in your pocket. Agreed. I h...
