Wested replaced the back panel on my first Hero because it was too long for the lining and kind of bulged out at the bottom like an A2! Well I got one! \:D/ .177 Pellet with 'Battlefield' finish. It's Awesome! Don't think I can better the pictures in the Azuma's review in the link above. The UK version comes with the safety switch on the right side which spoils the effect but the Battlefield finish is good, with a worn blued finish....

One of my Hero's had a back panel that was baggy towards the bottom, kind of sagged down a couple of inches up from the bottom. It looked pretty awful so I got Peter to replace the back and it came back looking just fine.

I used to give that thing a coat of Pecards to darken it up a shade once a year, works a treat.
That pre distressed hide soon dries back out if you prefer the lighter shade though!

I'm 5'10" and when Hemmed In the correct Indy fashion there's nothing to spare on the Wested's, as I'm average height (for a UK male) I've always thought they should be quite a bit longer for the other half of you guys out there!

My authentic brown goat has a tan body and my dark goat had a deep red brown, both are chrome tanned. If you ring Wested and talk to Peter he usually has small batches of hides that don't make it to the website. Make sure you talk to Peter personally though or you'll probably be just told what's on the website. Saturday mornings are a good time to catch him

A good taylor can certainly replace the liner, not all work with leather though so it's worth giving them a call beforehand to check.
