The hat that I've seen with the best TOD bash and taper, is the current "Poet" from Herbert Johnson - I think it's very soft though, and I don't know how it holds up against the weather...

Personally I own an "off-the-rack" ROTLA style in horsehide. It's very durable, somewhat SA and feels like something Indy would wear in real life. I also think it has broken in nicely. I've had it about a year and it's become softer and softer. There is a picutre here http://www.indygear.c...

Looks to me like it's been lying with the back of the brim against something - maybe a wall. However, I believe that the best solution would be to let it sit on a plain surface (a table - just like on the pic) for some time. It might straighten itself that way. My own beaver blend does straighten it...

The 'alterations' he has made are for individuals at their request. they don't carry over to every jacket. If you order one you can request it be made exactly as the jacket he had to examine and measure. Less undone stitching, tears, etc etc. There it is again! Why make alterations if it's perfect ...
