Hand-creased hats are often not perfectly simmetrycal. If that worries you (and it does seem to be a minor deviation, in the pics) you could retouch it.
If you are going to send it back because of the size issue, then leave the retouching to Steve.

Nice find! :D Is there a ribbon around the edge of the brim (I can never remember what that style is called), or is it stitched? I think what you're referring to is a bound edge. The stitched edge is called a "cavanaugh edge," I think. A brim with a trim is indeed called bound ; but the s...

I was comparing this Penman LC with an earlier Penman that I have (a grey Raiders seaplane) and even though the quality of both hats is amazing, you can really notice the improvements John has made since then since this LC is simply OUTSTANDING! If you have a hat that is about to develop a hole (which you will notice because the felt in that are is beginning to have a see-through quality because of felt "attrition"), you can reinforce it with silicone - obviously in the inside, on the feeble area. This will stiffen the crease at t...

Hello, Indeed, there exists a variety of beaver felt that is lightweight. It is available from, at least, some custom hatters. Art Fawcett (Vintage Silohuettes) can make such hats in a variety of colours: http://www.vintagesilhouettes.com/ I do not have any of his lightweights, but I have a couple o...

Hi, I second Chewie's wise words. Like him, I am a regular hat wearer. One of my hats is an "Indy hat", a Penman Raiders ; and I own several other, vintage, brown and grey hats similar in style and dimensions. And lots of other hats. As I have said before, the less conventional feature of ...

Snapbrim, I can't criticize you for not liking the hat, because it's all just a matter of opinion, but I disagree with you on the hat being a trilby. Trilby's usually have a much shorter brim , but the crown may be as tall and straight as a regular fedora. Keep in mind that Indy's hat is not a regu...

Technically, not an Indy at all. I do think the fedora Gary Cooper is wearing here captures the individuality of the man and the Indy spirit at the same time. (...) Raiders. For me, this is the Indy hat.
As an aside, YIJ hats would go last, very, very last. I find YIJ hats awful. Undefined and awkwardly creased. Yes, I know there are a few variants, but even the best one does not hold a candle (for me) to any of the movie hats.

It is a known fact the hats were provided by Optimo, as already mentioned. It is also expected that they will do some merchandising tying up with the movie's première (which may well result in a raising of prices, BTW). This particular hat is made of a color of felt known as "Oxblood", as ...

A minor turn looks alright, but those are hats I've had for ages that have naturally developed such a characteristic because of how long I've worn that hat and how it reacts to my head shape. I believe many of the hat details were NOT purposely designed, and that much of the latter lore is after-the-fact theorizing (by the fans) and made-up explanation (by those actually involved), intended to "fit" and "put together" what, in all probability, was never preconceived. ...
