All good suggestions but in my opinion its a no brainer to use John Penman as he does more Indiana Jones style Fedora's than the others mentioned aside from Advintage.

You won’t have to do much of anything to goatskin as it has such tight pores it tough to get it to accept much of ANYTHING in terms of conditioning. I’m a long practitioner of Pecards leather lotion, but for hides like goat or kangaroo I’m had very good results with the conditioner sold by US Wings...

In the UK, I don't think I've ever heard the terms top grain or full grain used. The genuine leather tag mean it's leather. I think the use of "genuine leather" on bonded leather in the EU wouldn't pass trading standards. Pretty sure top grain and full grain are industry jargon, and are c...

I assumed top grain was used for Wested's jackets. In the U.S. corners are cut with a lot of the leather jackets. I have a newer Wilson's that feels terrible, and that one is made from genuine leather (bonded and stamped). Wested hides feel much better, and I was almost certain they would be top gr...

like I said before, the leather looked like @#$% and now its questioned whether it will hold up with use of a conditioner. Good leather needs no conditioner for many years. Whether KS was a disappointment or not I think the thing that could still continue to make Adventurebilt hats collectible is the fact that the hats were made by a fan for the movies. You are correct. I don’t do the turn because of Indiana Jones anymore. I don’t even wear anything Jones related much. I just like hats and prefer the A2 over the Indy jacket anyday. I like the way the turn warps brims.

acetone was used to strip off the old dye of A2 jackets during WWII when they got a depot dye makeover.
I think people who don't fully understand dye and jackets and leather get all hot and bothered by this stuff. I have worked magic on jackets using acetone.

Maybe Mark. Period A2 jackets were not always put together well. Today’s repros are much more perfect in how they are constructed. Yet those same war time jackets survive and are wearable aside from some dry rot in the threads, liners or knits. I have another theory. I think they are in such poor co...
