Good hatters to approach for reblocking?
Based on your experiences, can you guys suggest good, reliable hatters to approach for reblocking a hat from another vendor?
To keep the peace, I'm really looking for constructive direction (like reasonable prices and turnaround times) rather than "NEVER go to THIS guy!" comments.
Specifically, I have an AdVintage Harrison 80/20 rabbit-beaver hat I love (really nice felt at a great price) but which has never quite been the same since I thoughtlessly left it for a couple of hours in a hot car on a July day (a mistake I'll never make again). The crown doesn't seem quite as tall as before.
I'd send it back to AdVintage for a freshening, but shipping from US to Germany and back is prohibitively expensive, so I'm looking for a US hatter for this service.
Thanks!

I know Penman offers services for full reblock of hats.

I'm sure there are other's out there but he's the first that came to mind.

A hatter named David Gibson has taken over Vintage Silhouettes/VS Custom Hats for the retired Art Fawcett. David has probably had a hand on one or two my hats already when I sent them to Art. I also plan on sending him a Clear Beaver Stetson for a full refurbishment soon. The 888 number on the website still works, but David is only in the shop Thurs-Sat

JJ Hat Center also offers refurbs, as does Baron.

All good suggestions but in my opinion its a no brainer to use John Penman as he does more Indiana Jones style Fedora's than the others mentioned aside from Advintage.

David Garrison reblocked two hats for me and both came out great.

Penman is reasonable and serve you an e-mail when it’s your turn. I think my last one was 14 days from leaving my hands to opening the box on return.

I would definitely recommend Penman Hats. I'm going to be sending my old beat up Adventurebilt fedora to him soon.

Mike at Northwest was very affordable. Worth a quote.

Have a Fed IV Deluxe that needs a reblock. Just debating on getting a new one vs spending money on a reblock and postage. Prices are really good lately.
Re: Good hatters to approach for reblocking?
You’ll have to wait, but Penman is great. He did a fantastic job with my Beaver Adventurebilt awhile back.

I recall John has stated in the past he’s not fond of reblocking Akubra fedoras, so definitely talk to him first before committing to shipment.
Might be a great time to get you a new one now and explore getting your old one reworked later.
Just a thought.
