Thanks for the input guys. First thing I think I'm going to do is take it to the source. Turns out the Schatzlein Saddle Shop, the name embossed in the sweat band, is still in business and over on West Lake street somewhere, (who knew?) and see what they have to say about it and maybe what kind of s...

Re: To Ride the Hat Lightning or Not Ride the Hat Lightning...

Okay then, new question, how do you date a hat?

(sigh) Besides asking permission from it's daddy first...

There is a tag on the inside of the hat underneath the sweat that says the size and the word 'Capitan'. I'm assuming that is the style of this hat.

Anything else I should look for?

Great info on here everybody, Thanks!
I have a question to throw out while I sand on my Kit. What is the prefered way of attaching the grips? Are they getting glued on, or screwed on with wood screws or actual pistol grip screws?
Just curious.

Thanks.

I've been wearing my Todd's Standard off and on all summer since I got it a month ago, wore it this morning in fact. Granted it's been unseasonably cool this summer, but still, I'd say jump on it.

My guess would be because essentially he's in "civilization" at that point. He's not in the jungle or in the desert, he's in Europe. He would have stood out without a tie in the 1930's. It was how you went out and did almost everything back then.
