Re: To Ride the Hat Lightning or Not Ride the Hat Lightning...
Thanks for the input guys. First thing I think I'm going to do is take it to the source. Turns out the Schatzlein Saddle Shop, the name embossed in the sweat band, is still in business and over on West Lake street somewhere, (who knew?) and see what they have to say about it and maybe what kind of s...

Re: To Ride the Hat Lightning or Not Ride the Hat Lightning...
Okay then, new question, how do you date a hat?
(sigh) Besides asking permission from it's daddy first...
There is a tag on the inside of the hat underneath the sweat that says the size and the word 'Capitan'. I'm assuming that is the style of this hat.
Anything else I should look for?

Hmmmmm,
Well truthfully I hadn't ruled that out as an option, I just got excited about having my potential fedora in my hand as opposed to "in the future somewhere".
More things to ponder ............
Thanks guys.

Okay guys and dolls, until recently with my current work and home project schedule (honey do's and personal sanity) I had resigned myself to scrimping and saving and "someday" choosing a lid from one of our fine hatter's here on COW...or this guy on Etsy who does some nice looking work, an...

Re: RaiderZee/Wade Egan Webley Kit Owners
Great info on here everybody, Thanks!
I have a question to throw out while I sand on my Kit. What is the prefered way of attaching the grips? Are they getting glued on, or screwed on with wood screws or actual pistol grip screws?
Just curious.
Thanks.

As someone who has worn mine as often as possible since aquiring it in June (Thank you unseasonably cool summer, even though there was never a good day to go swimming!) and is looking at it right now tossed on top of my junk here at work. I would have to say yes. You could even add "filling up ...

I've been wearing my Todd's Standard off and on all summer since I got it a month ago, wore it this morning in fact. Granted it's been unseasonably cool this summer, but still, I'd say jump on it.

The other day, I got home from work (where I can't dress up), put on a pair of nice trousers and a button up shirt, slid on my indy straw and went to the local chilis to have a good dinner by myself. My guess would be because essentially he's in "civilization" at that point. He's not in the jungle or in the desert, he's in Europe. He would have stood out without a tie in the 1930's. It was how you went out and did almost everything back then.
That's how I always looked at it anyway.

Not to sideline the debate here.. Down here, a gentleman removes his hat at the dinner table, but I rarely see this in restaurants for some reason. I love mine, and strangely enough, I honestly can't believe how many times I've actually worn it just out to things. Definitely more than I figured when I bought it.
I just picked up a 'new' vintage (probably 50's) tweed jacket to wear it with.
If I haven't thanked you before, Thanks Magnoli!

Okay you all, this remides me of a funny story. Anyway, I had bought a couple of felt bodies out of a ...
