Agreed, those pics are an apt memory of Walt - an impeccably dressed gentleman at the QM, in the company of fine people, and in his element examining unique whips in great detail, a connesuier (sp?) enjoying new treasures with a trained eye.

P.S. I just dug around on the American Optical site ( http://www.aoeyewear.com ), and I can't find this model frame. The closest I can get to are still somewhat different, aren't available in the same lens/temple color pieces, and are also more at $70-$80, so this IS a deal US Wings has.

Leather is leather. With the right tools, a punch in case you need more holes, and an appropriate dye for the raw edge you'll leave, it should be possible. But I'd give him a call/email first and if you KNOW you will be losing the weight, get sized for your 'midpoint'. I.e., plan to lose four inches...
