Re: Expedition with Thinsulate
I also layer a fleece vest under my Expo and find it inconvenient to deal with. I've got a thinsulate zip-in liner from a leather jacket I no longer wear that I want to use. The liner needs to be shortened a bit, so I need to find a tailor that can do that and sew in the zipper. I'm hoping to have d...

Walt was a terrific and generous man. Such terrible news. Back in the days of the original SoCal Tribe, I always looked forward to seeing him @ our many get togethers aboard the QM or @ the Buchanan Arms in Burbank. Schmidty612 is on the level. Elgin is just north of Geneva and I happened into his shop last summer on a day when he was working. I noticed the pair of well-worn 405s on his feet and asked if he was an Indy fan. Well, obviously he was and even though I was there to buy a different pair of shoes, we ...

PrettyBigGuy, Great looking Aldens! Did you use Brown Pecards on them? That's what I use on mine and they have a similar burgundy color now. I also notice you kept the outer threads white (so did I). How much did your re-treads cost? Looks terrific - now go muss them up a bit. :D Best Regard...

After 3 years I finally had the Alden 405s, that I bought from Fritz in Sherman Oaks, CA, on the day I attended my first Indy summit. In addition to what Michaelson has said the costumers looked @ Ralph McQuarrie's concept paintings where Indy is shown wearinging a WWII GI web belt with a leather shoulder strap beneath his jacket. He is also depicted as having a canvas pouch that would typically be used to hold 2 .45 caliber M1911...

Thanks for all the kind comments guys. I'm not worried about the jacket seams. The hanger is very wide and round, so the jacket will be all right. Latest Gear Display Idea

If it's in good shape, by all means leave together. As to your other questions, as far as I know, the Mk VII gas mask bag was supposed to be worn across your chest. That is why the strap is so short. The long string is supposed to be used to wrap around your body and hold it in position. The metal d...
