Re: Allan Grant hat...
I have a Sunbody that I did a few years ago and it is one of my regular field hats when I am out collecting fossils or rock samples. I got it as an unshaped hat and did the shaping myself, just soak it and work in the shape. What you see is about as sharp a crease you can get without cracking the st...

Re: The handguns of Indiana Jones
Yeah I have the 1911 and SAA with 4.75 barrel (my regular mountain carry). I let the Colt Police and 1917 slip through my fingers recently but money has been tight. I can't beleive what some people are wanting for Webleys these days, some are approaching Python territory. Thing is just about all of ...

Re: The handguns of Indiana Jones
Hmmm now to start collecting all of these. Actually there are a few that I already have in my collection and I had just got them because I liked them without the Indy connection.

Yeah but a Net book is much smaller than a file folderclark.j.kent wrote:The folder might fit. I removed the center divider to make more room for when I eventually buy a Netbook.
Well at least my Acer Aspire one is. I got it for taking to school.

Re: Check out my gloves
Yep I have some of the same ones, got them about 3 years ago still in decent shape. They are tough as nails gloves. I have never noticed any out of the ordinary odors from them other that regular old work gloves smell. Mine were first used when I was doing field work in a rain forest so they have se...

Yeah I think I'm going to keep Tommy in this case, the 1917 is a bit on the pricey side for what it is. I'm sure I will find another for a better price at some point.

Re: Indy bag for a camera bag.
Yep use my MK to carry my cameras all the time. It fits my FM or F3HP perfectly even with my 80-200 attached, sometimes an extra lens or two a few extra rolls of film. When it comes to digital I find the D40 fits great and a nice combo is the D40 with a 18-200 attached. My D70 is a bit tighter fit, ...

Re: Anyone else feel weird about wear the hat in public?
You know its funny I have only ever once had anyone make an Indy reference while I was wearing my feds. I have had more Indy references when I wore my old oil skin wide brimmed hat. I wore my fed to school the other day and a rather cute girl gave me a nice smile and said "Nice hat". She i...

A different kind of hat
As I mentioned in this thread I thought it was time for a new hat. I've been working on my paleontology quite a bit lately and I'll be working in the field quite a bit this spring and summer. Most of the areas will be harsh sun and not very fur felt friendly. I knew there were others here that liked...

At least if not all of the Carbines in the movie were M2s. The close up they did when Indy was holding the Sovs at bay you could clearly see the selector. Leatherwork is one of those things that can get very expensive to get into. The tools for it just like any tools that you buy are going to cost a bit for the quality. Cheap tools when it comes to leather work generally just do not work well. $250 for a leather bracer like that is insane. It basicall...

Yes, I've heard and read the same rumours, but the gunbelt buckle in CS is a totally new design with part of the buckle bend more backwards than the buckles seen in the previous films. I do a bit of field work in remote areas. A whip could come in handy in some emergencies - like climbing up a steep incline, or (more likely in my case) scaring away a scrub bull. But I've never carried one on my belt on the job. I might see if I can carry one in a field bag next time I'm miles fro...

Oiling a denim Wested Indy?
Hey guys I have been wondering about this for awhile now. Would there be a way to treat a denim Indy jacket to make it similar to the material used in making outback jackets? Ultimately I'd love to have a Indy jacket made out of that material but I don't think that would happen any time soon. I'm ba...
