Haven't posted in awhile and don't know if this has been posted yet but here is the japanese (or new zealand's take) on the Indy Jacket. Can't atest to its authenticity but I thought you guys might be interested to see this. I have seen The Fews other stuff before and there quality is second to none, but the prices are steep.

And, those pockets are larger than even the Wested LC jackets, but they still look nice. Too shiny for me, though.-

That's one of the things I like about this jacket. Smaller, higher armholes allow movement of the arms without the jacket riding up. That's the ONLY thing I don't like about my Gibson and Barnes. I wish it's arm holes were higher cut.
Funny enough, the only thing I like about the new Belstaff jacket is the apparently tighter cut arms holes and sleeves.
It seems to me the Japanese jacket manufacturers recognize a kind of "reverence" for many things considered to be "Americana" in their buying public. They put their own spin on classic American garments such as jeans and leather jackets with an attention to detail that is bordering on obsessive.
I've also read that garments made and sold locally in Japan often are priced higher than the same garment sold overseas. High priced garments are part of the status that many young japanese go for. My cousin who is living in Japan and working as an english teacher has told me that some of his Japanese friends lie about paying full retail for items they purchase on sale to avoid ridicule. Unlike many western cultures where getting a "deal" is something to brag about.
In any event, as much as it may not be to our liking as a SA Indy jacket, I'm sure the Japanese offerings are fantastic jackets. I've wanted an A2 from Japan for quite some time.

The Japanese do amazing things with "classic" items. They are obsessive with detail and they love most things American. It's ironic to me that some of the great US items are now made by the country America fought against in WW2. Go figure. Watches, jackets, cars, cameras, audio/visual gear... Those guys have made it all their own!
