Go with cow if you're going to cut your own strands, the precut lace has no tapper. Or go with rjallen on paracord if you just want to work on plaiting. I think I used 4±oz on my first and seemed ok.

That's exacty how I experimented at first. I used a clothesline cord, 1/4" I think, and plaited that around a bolt to see if it would keep my interest. From there I got two books by Edwards and Morgan, some tips from some of the whipmakers here and my first whip turned out pretty good.

I can't but did you skive the edges? That seems like some thick hide, what's the weight of it? Be sure to roll it between layers, it'll help make it more uniform.

Nice work Adam! How heavy is it? This being a mini are the guts still the same like steel core and lead (I think this is what you use) for the turks head? Also what is the length of the fall, I guessing 18".

I thought you were suppose to saturate the core and bellies of the whip with dressing as it acted like a reservoir and not let the whip dry out from the inside.
