jnicktem, nice lookin lid / bash. I'd push the center dent a tad more downward at the back, just a little. (My preference depending on the look you're going for.) Throw some pics up with it on your noggin! (I'm with Michaelson, ..... a hat never looks quite correct unless it's worn. ;-) ) Regards, MJ

The height of that block has Raiders written all over it! Marc, you put a LC kind of bash in there which is why I think a few Gearheads think it's too tall. But for a ROTLA lid, it looks like the perfect height. :D And for a prototype, wow! I know there will be some fit and finish details, (namely t...

I don't know for sure what happened between, Raiders and TOD. But I do know one thing. The hat changed, and it changed drastically. And that sort of change has to have a huge reason at the bottom of it. And the TOD costumer was not very good at his craft. At least the new costumer LOOKED and studie...

Head, face and block shape
On another post, Fedora(Steve), replied to a post about block shapes and faces. I though this was very interesting and important to everyone who is going to buy a new hat or rebock in the future. Here are some snippets: Marc's Raiders block and my old Raiders block and new Raiders block(CS block) ar...

All but one.......... It seems a sample hat was accidently grabbed and aged while the costumer was in NM. The hat that was accidently included had more brim, and you will see it in some of the Hawaii shots. And, it turns out, this hat was the one that Ford and Bernie had originally picked as the fi...

Another option, instead of steam, that I've had lots of luck with; put some spring water or distilled water in a spray bottle and dampen the felt in the area you want to shape. How damp depends on how stubborn the felt is, so start with a little at first. I find that nothing softens up a hat like w...

Correct. Both our 1919 felts were from the same batch. You ordered big?! Since this is about as dense as the felt will ever get, I doubt it will EVER shrink. You too, old friend!!! :D It's not QUITE as dense in feel as my 1919 mercury felt AB, but the 'feel' IS definitely there, and it is as soft and has the same 'give' as that vintage felt. It's definiltely different in feel than the standard AB beaver felt, though.....at least mine is when compared to...

LC or Raiders?
Hi everyone; I have a big question. I have my current AB and I love it. I'm thinking of definately getting another with the newer felt. I have a vintage Adventurebilt as well. It is 100% Beaver and from a stock of dead stock hat bodies from the 1930's, blocked and styled by Steve. He had a few and a few are around. The felt is very soft and very smooth. http://img157.imageshack.us/img157/2782/p10100565ws.th.jpg Modern, you know I l...

:D Good morning to all! Fedora (Steve), sent me an e-mail last night. This Fedora is the last. He said ever! I feel very privileged, to have the last one, of the 1920's 100% Beaver Mercury Felt, Fedora. Priviledged, indeed, Will! You've got a "limited edition" of which there are few! Enjo...
