Re: Long "Indy" Bullwhip

Im not a fan of the french grapevine or the concho. That's personal preference however. Other than that I think the whip looks good. Your work is constantly improving. It seems to handle well also. On a whip that long, taper is always an issue. You seem to have nailed it on the last 10-12 feet. It s...

I've never had any success with a cable core which speak VERY well for your whips. I can never get mine to sit correctly. That's why I use BB loaded core. Personal preference. I guess if all whips where made the same, then there wouldn't be much of a whip world out there.

Re: does anybody on here own a nylon bullwhip by dirk adkins

TWO, nylon whips are not supposed to be plaited tight, BUT, this one was. Since nylon doesn't have a lot of stretch, Plaiting it as tight as leather makes them stiff as a rod. I didn't know that when I made this whip up for the kid, so it was already far too stiff. After he swung on it, it separate...

Don't get me wrong I'll end up getting a nylon whip instead of a leather because the price difference is soooo huge. Re: does anybody on here own a nylon bullwhip by dirk adkins

Leather whips definitely crack better than nylon because the strands are thinner, thus the whip flows more fluidly. Nylon is tougher, yes, but as far as performance goes, leather does out perform nylon, there is no arguing that. What is more important, however, is the whip being well made. A good n...

I believe Canuck Digger summed it up quite nicely. You are at the point now where you just really need to watch what is on the under the final layer of the whip. Every little thing shows ten fold on the final layer. Overall, you plaiting and strand sizing seems to be very nice. Keep up the good work...

You should use 550. Not only is it cheaper, its also smaller by a good bit. Smaller, and thinner. Since its thinner, it'll lay flatter. Its just better all around. My input.

I'm not sure what transition bump you are referring too? I always stop at a 6 plait. You also do have that awkward transition bump. Over all it looks like an excellent whip. Keep up t...
