Re: R.I.P Peter Botwright
Mr. B You will always be in my memories as a great man and excellent provider to the Indy community. I recall our first phone conversation many many years back and you spoke to me as if you knew me for years. I appreciate all that you have done for so long and the beautiful jackets your company has ...

Hi, I've always used a method of accomplishing the swoop by placing the hat crown down and pushing the sides inward >0< so that they almost touch, you'll start to notice the front and rear portion of the brim curve downwards. You can do this a couple of times. Then while holding the sides pushed tog...

Hey Guys, Just so you know,my opinion was not intended to disrespect Wested in any shape or form. I've own several of their jackets and love them. Also, Peter is a great man and has always produced a beautiful product. In my own experience over the years I've had several issues with the jacket regar...

It's terrible to have to deal with issues like stitching etc, but this is just another example of Wested quality. You pay top dollar for the original jacket but you end up with a product that lacks quality. Almost like driving a high end sports car thats held together with scotch tape. This has alwa...

Hey, I also just got my US Wings KOTCS jacket today. I love it and it seems to be a little more darker brown than pictured on the site. The Todds ribbon is not too bad but not as dark as it appears on his site.what I would do is get some dark brown RIT dye and let the ribbon simmer in it and you'll end up with a nice dark brown, almost black ribbon with no shine to the surface at all. This is what I did with the Todds and with all m...

Gentlemen! I have come to the simple conclusion that we are just getting larger! The size we think we wear is truly turning out to be the size we wore 10 years ago! I'm actually the same size now that I was 10 years ago. If I were to try on a XXL normally, it would be huge. Enough for two of me to ...

Hey Whiskyman, I think the jacket looks great! hopefully they'll send you both sleeves. In the mean time I would throw a large Indy patch on the back, wear it over a wested denim jacket and jump on a motorcycle. You can start the first Indiana Jones motorcycle club! At least the color looks good :lo...

Re: New Guy Needs Help W/ G&B & Wested
I got the goatskin, which is a heavier skin, in the G&B. It drapes well and reaches further down than my Wested. I will probably get a G&B in Lambskin. I know it's not from the original maker , but I am a great fan of the G&B prduct and company. Randoman Wear it well! it'll outlast any ...

I would be more concerned about the stitching coming apart. Why? You do wash your regular clothes in a washing machine don't you? If so, what do you think happens to the stitching on them? Do they fall apart or are they just fine wash after wash? Cotton thread can withstand a tremendous amount of w...

Vintage hat block advice needed
Hi, I recently got this vintage hat block off ebay for a rather low price and was wondering if anyone had any tips or advice as to how to reblock some existing fedoras, mostly the vintage ones I have. I'm pretty experienced with the cleaning process, band/bow replacement, shaping, steaming etc but h...

Another great lid is the Akubra federation. I own a few both regular and deluxe and I have to say that this hat is built to last. No taper, no discoloration, keeps it's shape, easy to maintain and I always store it crown down as it seems to reduce the possibility of taper. I don't own an AB but my e...

Wested jacket color, U.S. Wings jacket choice and sizing
Hi, I was curious as to the darkest brown color that wested leather offers in their Indy jacket line. According to their site, the leather sample page shows the Authentic brown as being rather lighter than the other leathers pictured, yet Peter mentions that the original Raiders jacket was made in A...
