Re: Comprehensive Indy whip price list and comparison (10/09/09)
um, I also think we might have a SNAFU here. Borton, I don't know if it was you or me, but I think the vendors might be out of order in so far as matching up to the collage. After the original 17 vendors were posted, we were supposed to ignore alphabetical order, but that might not have happened... ...

Re: Comprehensive Indy whip price list and comparison (10/09/09)
I am thinking it may be time for another update of this thread. A few new excellent whipmakers have started churning out excellent whips or started making them again, and prices could use an update as well. yah, it's been six months, I'd say you're about right. I should be able to get it done on fr...

Re: Comprehensive Indy whip price list and comparison (10/09/09)
thank you.. and don't forget it's Borton's too.
as far as Todd's whip goes.. I don't know. it's a "prop whip" isn't it? at $99 it's 1/3 to 1/5 the price of the whips that are listed here so I would tend to think it's a different animal. anyone else have an opinion?

Re: Comprehensive Indy whip price list and comparison (5/20/09)
I just went through and updated every vendor as best as I could, for offerings, prices, and conversions. If they make a CS whip, I noted it also. I know I'm beating a dead horse here, but I just raised the price of a certain vendor's whips $200 for their ten foot offering. and this list was last upd...

two dumb questions
1.) I don't even know how many plaits my whip is. there an easy way to tell, like something I can count?
2.) I have a build up of black gunky hand grease on the handle. how do I clean that?

Yes knibs. People wanting their work done for them put a bee in my bonnet. forget the search engine.. you do realize that there's a thread stickied to the top of this forum that has every comprehensible indy whip vendor listed as well as the prices they charge, pictures of their whips, and links to...

Re: New Indy whip By Purewhips
The 8 footer I got from you about two years ago is still the only whip I ever bought. that thing has been beat to heck and it still works great. not a broken strand or anything. it colored VERY nicely, btw. but believe me when I say my neighbors hate you. I have a problem with getting drunk at indec...

Re: stupid question about price
Okay, I didn't know what a quality fedora cost to begin with, so that helped a lot. this thread is pretty much exactly answering my question. as far as the comparison to a leather jacket, I was just always impressed that wested made the raiders jacket and sold it as cheap as they do, especially in c...

Re: stupid question about price
well, the AB deluxe for instance.. is like $900. Marc says it takes 9 hours to make one. this is a little more money than I make in a 40 hour work week. if I was buying it in a mall, I'd understand more, because most retail outlets want 45-55% gross profit margin. but straight from the source? if th...

stupid question about price
Why are fedoras so much money? From what I've seen as far as the highest prices go, and from what I understand about how long they take to make, it would appear that some hat makers are getting over $100 an hour per hat, if not more. I understand supply and demand, I'm not a dummy... but since almos...

don't know if it's been posted about yet, that's what I was looking for. guess it's time to update the whip list.

well, since the thread this belongs in was locked (there was nothing else to say on the subject?) but I think it's worth adding, the novapelle LC jacket I just got today from wested has some of the same marks on it. I'm not sure I would say that they looked like they were drawn on with a marker, but...

99% sure that you're paying for shipping back. and even if you don't, I'm 100% sure that of the three shipping charges total (wrong size to you, wrong size back, new jacket to you), you're paying for at least two of them, if not all three. bingo, just added $40 to the price of that jacket (keeping m...

Now is this 21 business days, or calendar days? My personal opinion is that Peter should work 7 days a week. A 14 hour day sounds appropriate. This is the land of Charles Dickens, is it not?
