I sent my Alden's back for restoration last October, and got them back within 8 weeks. They did an excellent job (new heels and soles, new laces, etc.). They even tossed in a spare set of laces and two nice cedar shoe trees. It is well worth the cost to avail yourself of their restoration service. F...

Try right-clicking on the link, and select "Save target as". This will download the mp3 file. After it downloads, right-click on the file itself, select "Open with", and select "Windows Media Player".

Unfortunately, I cannot comment on your choice of shoes, since I only have a pair of Aldens. I used to have a pair of Knapp steel-toed work boots which I wore regularly for many years. They held up fine, and I only had them resoled once.
