Yeah... but the US Wings is 17J Swiss movement. Not quartz. Personally I like mechanical movement watches - they don't run out of batteries. I have been out in the field when the battery went dead. That is really, really bad when you use your watch to navigate the trails.

I used it as a drinking vessel. After a very hot, climb through a sun exposed mountain trail, I literally walked into a mountain pond and scooping water with my fedora over my face and mouth.

It depends on the batch... but my luck has always been better with white hide falls. The red hide falls tend to break down faster, dry out faster, etc. But they are more SA...

You are right... they were trying to get a more perfect line of the ark which they couldn't achieve with the prop ark. So they came out with the cutout version that created more crisp lines for the shadow shot.

There is a lot of temptation to dye a whip that is delivered in natural condition. But there is joy seeing it naturally age into a mahogany patina finish over time. Be patient... Just my humble opinion. :wink:

I backup Dan too... anytime there is dirt, grit in between the braids there is going to be potential damage to the leather. The point of cleaning this whip up is not get rid of the stain, in my opinion is to dislodge, safely anything that was picked up during a whipping session on a top layer of mac...

agent5, well that's one of the reasons I'm here. I have not touched it, so please let me know what is the best way to treat it. I don't want it to look any different or change color. And I can't have it all dripping with oil or something, or it would have to be in it's own case away from the fedora...

Those are good instructions Dan. AVbat you mentioned you don't have Pecards yet. Make sure you have all the ingredients in hand before you clean your whip with saddle soap. Saddle soap will dry out the whip. So I wouldn't let it be in that dry state for too long.

Interesting... all I know is that the forward placement of the pockets make for a much more usable side entry to the pockets. Before, you had to be a contortionist to use those pockets. At least that was my experience.

Come to think of it, I do remember the pocket placement (more forward) on the G&B jacket. That redesign was done on board a QM summit event with Michaelson, MK and others discussing with Dave Marshall. The move forward did have a ripple effect down to Wested. Probably not US Wings.
