Re: So AUSTRALIAN HJs DO EXIST AFTERALL!!!

Hm, sure every penny matters, but every penny is worth keeping the look&feel. At least to me. Why not going with the original suppliers? Instead of taking risks with new ones... I still find it hard to believe it's just about money or location (US vs. Europe). There have to be other reasons not ...

Re: So AUSTRALIAN HJs DO EXIST AFTERALL!!!

Hi,

I don't think money for some hats, jackets and whips mattered. Unless Noel et al. were not too greedy.
I mean we are talking about a multi-million dollar budget film...

Hi LLS, we learned in the past from various hatters here in COW that the look of a hat is determined not only by the block but also by the felt and how skillfully it is bashed. Does your block work with your felt only or could it be a different felt also, i.e. would your block yield the same look re...

Fedora, I wonder if your quest for THE block will ever be over. We heard so often in the past that you are as close as one can get, we order your hats, wait for months, get it and soon after that you tell us you got even closer. I mean, isn't it a bit unfair that somebody who ordered just one or two...

I'm yet to see a hat that actually accepts the top pinch somewhat solid. On The Henry as with every other hat, the pinch keeps popping out. I wonder what kind of a weird block it'd have to be to just take that pinch. I had the same "trouble" with my Magnoli HJ because of the softness of t...

Hello everybody... now with some pics. I have both hats - an HJ of 2005 from SAB (on the left) and an IM/AB. I took some pictures so we can see the blockshape. In my opinion this is the main visual difference besides the bow - and the craftsmanship for sure. The color, lining, sweat and crest are th...

Yeah, once you see it, it stands out. There is a brim line on the hat (for the Cairo). It doesn't seem to be on the actual "Raiders" hat throughout the film, though. But the Cairo underwent some mussing and the sides still remained nice and straight even when shortened. This ol thing, for...

A telescope crowned hat starts with a tall, pointy blockshape To get the lines I see on the Raiders hat, the block shape needs to be quite sovepipe. That way the felt folds back on it's self sharply. A pointy block would be less likely to leave lines, as the folds couldn't be as sharp. A telescoped...

Perhaps this is why some of those Raiders hats tend to have the Poet block visible on the hat's perimiter. Perhaps, but a real logical explanation could be, as the film progressed, the hat tapered!! That is something that all can relate to. And also something what would indeed make alot of sense. W...
