My AB turns 9 years old right about now. I remember waiting an entire 10 days to receive it. From what I understand, wait times are slightly longer now. I'll try to post a recent picture, but honestly, it looks the same. No re-block. No nothin'. Same Raven Bar bash that I put on it 9 years ago.

Good choice. From what I've seen, these new Feds look great. I got one three years ago. The old block was ok, but nothing like this new look. I had mine reblocked by Fedora, and the shape is just like my AB. Shaping is a breeze. Just follow some of the good advice on here. NO STEAM!!!!! And turn it....

You can go to a fabric store and look in their ribbon section. You'll need to go to our ribbon tutorial in order to make it from what you buy. I've done it. It's quite rewarding.

I can honestly say that my AB is the same as the day that I bashed it. Sweatband is still incredibly comfortable. The crown has not tapered. Two and a half years.

Yep. Turn it. I received my hats, including my AB, open crowned. I turned them, then bashed them. The hat will conform to your head. The look is great! For me, it is the only way to get a good brim swoop.

Yep. Work and yard hat for the Federation. My Federation has sheet rock dust embedded in it. My AB is my dress hat. If you have the cash, get them both.

Thanks. I figured that the sweat is what shrank, so it is what would stretch. Just need to find a stretcher. I get Michelson's point about a "thicker" stretcher. I may try and make one. Sounds fun. I'll keep ya' posted.

Is there any risk of stretching the felt in the spot you are stretching? I'm thinking of taking the sweatband out of my Akubra and stretching it so that I don't effect the felt.

I have to agree. Excellent job on the bash. The hat looks great.

Looks good. Just give it time to settle in. Get your hand inside the hat, then push in hard on top back corner of the side dents, while pinching around your thumb from the inside. This will help get a nice dent. I still do this to my hat, now and then.

Excellent hat!! I love the color. Your bash looks fantastic!! One of the best that I have seen on a Federation, or any other hat for that matter. I don't know how you happened onto a Fed with such straight sides. It looks like mine after Steve re blocked it.
