LC and CS for me by a land slide. My OCD to the tenth power prevents me from being able to deal with the turn of the Raiders hat. My own daily driver (a highly modified Downtowner) is kind of a combo of ToD and LC. I wear it well.

I'm BACK!!
After more than a year of absence I have returned. Just wanted to tell everyone hello, and as I used to spend the bulk of my time in the whip section I decided to start here. Hello everyone!

Re: Are fedoras too hot for the summer...?
I voted "Maybe" on this one, simply because its totally subjective. For instance: I live in South Mississippi. When I say South, I mean less than 20 miles from the Gulf of Mexico. So I, as others here do, quite literally live in sub-tropical weather in the summer. The heat hovers between 9...

Re: New Crease N Corral Raiders Bull Whip
3/32 is a really small cable. I can see where it could actually be more flexible than the leather plaited around it. The one in my whip must be either extremely stiff or a large diameter. I will check out the review when I can. I might be very interested in one of these since it really is a good loo...

Steel tube handle foundation with a 3/32" cable running through it, which goes the whip's length. A series of 5 bolsters, each bound to compress the leather, and bound even extra at the transition. So, no plaited bellies, five bolsters over a steel cable core. How does it ever break in? I have...

I haven't seen a huge change in my nylon whip from swinging on it. Next time It'll be made with swinging in mind. Just about any nylon whip, however, will be able to take whatever abuse you can give it. That is true. As stated previously, you COULD actually use a nylon as a tow rope. Each strand (w...

A leather whip WILL hold the weight of a full grown adult. You could pull a truck with a nylon. The problem is that the plaiting tightens, stretches, and shifts in strange and unusual ways. Your nice round taper will deform and become ugly. I weigh nearly 270 pounds and have swung many times on a le...

The problem with the ToD hat, as many here will tell you, is that in any given scene you may be looking at a Herbert Johnson, a Stetson, a whatever. The tangling and knotting of the cracker has more to do with the fluidity of the whip's movement and the "link" between your arm and the whip than with the length or material of the cracker, IMO. Take this for example: http://i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g435/swguy270/IMG_20120420_120638.j...
