Re: Newbie question no2
I have experience with Panama Bob - A fantastic hat from a great guy who cares deeply about the local trade and the families who make those hats. Not only will you get a great hat from him, but your cash will be going to the hatmakers in Ecuador more directly. The Fedora Lounge is a great place to s...

Re: What suit/sport coat combos work best with Indy fedoras?
Corduroy sports coats really lend themselves to the dark brown of an Indy Fedora, be they tan, camel, brown, forest green or moss.
This is more of an autumn/winter garment, but I believe every gentleman should have a couple of real corduroy sports coats, suede elbow patches included.

No! God, no, I had no frikkin' clue. Gentlemen, I wanted to point out a great ribbon from a really nice supplier, one that I noticed due to Steve's recommendation. I have no distaste whatsoever for either Adventurebilt or Penman hats. Their wares and practices have my complete respect. I was trying for a laugh. Re: Local Land Surveyors Ribbon
Kentucky, how does using new ribbon made exactly like vintage equate to "doing something wrong"?
To my knowledge, Steve, marc and Oak are using the best there is, and the best us regular folks can get is the stuff provided by LLS, which is excellent in and of itself.

The Indy ribbon that steve , marc and myself is just like the pure rayon vintage ribbon. Even the thread count is the same. I just got four feet of Schiff grosgrain ribbon from Local Land Surveyor (usually called LLS for short 'round these parts) and folks, lemme tell ya, Fedora ain't lyin' when he says LLS got the shade down. It has the color of burnt coffee, the perfect balance of black/brown you'd want on an Indy Fedo...

I would certainly hope that a leather jacket, worn for protection from the elements, wouldn't shrink to where it didn't fit simply because I got caught in a shower.
That would be a problem.

I need to comment here, since the jacket arrived this evening. This is not only my first Indy Jacket, it is my first serious leather garment. Never even had a bomber jacket in the 80's. My earlier questions about color have been put to rest - I've followed jacket threads for years and the comparison shots, as well as the various shots from you guys indoors and out, show this may be the best color for an Indy Jacket I've ever seen. Mine arrives tomorrow, a valiant show of defiance i...

I don't wanna be the lone voice of concern, but is it lighter looking than the pic on their website?
The jacket above has a mid-range brown, the one on the website is dark chocolate, like a black/brown.
Will it darken with age?
Is the lighting difference that dramatic?

Michaelson,
I figured you had a much better relationship with Sarge, and I also didn't want to step on any toes, i.e., conducting a poll about a merchant without a merchant's heads up. Remember, it was Laurie I spoke to, not Sarge, and I'd want a green light from him before stepping up to the plate.

I almost never post here in the Bullwhip section, so thank you for reading this. I'm more a fedora/clothing guy. Waitaminute... I owned a Stetson Temple, and I adjusted and reshaped that crown a time or two. There's no way that crown was 5 1/2 inches when open, much less shaped. Mine measured 5 1/8 when open.
