Texas, is that a WWI reproduction bag? If it's not, it's very similar. They do make good "close enough" Indy bags, and after all, in the 1930's, that's what would have been available.

The first time I treated my homemade strap, the same thing happened. I just kept buffing it over the span of a few days until no more dye rubbed off, and it's been fine since. you'd have better luck slapping the jacket against a brick wall..and crawling and rolling around on the ground, and have a lot more fun!! That would be a lot more fun, but you'd end up with a destroyed jacket. When sanding it, you have to be really careful along the seams or the thread will be torn...

Judging by the about us portion of the site, the company has an international slant. If that's the case, English is probably their second or third language, so that would explain some of the strange English usage. It's not a good reason for poor business grammar, but a reason nonetheless.

If it's not that old, you might want to try just wearing it very often. You might have been doing this already, but I know my Fed fits tighter now than when I first got it. As I understand, all new Akubras come with adhesive backed foam strips for this purpose. The strips can be placed underneath the sweatband where needed to create a snugger fit. I'm sure you could rig up something like this by going to a fabric store and gettting something similar.
