Acetone/rubbing alcohol

Post by Flattery »

I was rubbing down my authentic lamb last night, and a little bit of color came off. It's not noticeable on the jacket, just the paper towl was discolored. I'm wondering, would several applications of alcohol have the same general effect as acetone?

Alcohol and acetone have the same general effect on the jacket, but acetone is much stronger. The alcohol doesn't take off nearly as much dye as the acetone, as the acetone gets deeper into the leather. The alcohol seems to just take off some of the surface chemicals. Also, after a few applications of the alcohol, it should stop having much effect on the jacket. Hope that helps.
