Re: David Morgan - Year he Stopped Making Whips?

I'll see if the tag on the whip says something and report back if so, the general time frame sounds right.

I'm sure there is no sure for a good bit of time there as we transitioned... enjoy the mystery! :whip:

Thanks for the updates, there were quite a few changes. Would you make one more please? The Akubra Indy style hat we carry is called "The Adventurer", and here is a shorter link to it. http://www.davidmorgan.com/product_info.php?products_id=1128" onclick="window.open(this.href);...

Re: Indy's Fedora - a hat for all seasons?

The Australian hat market is much less seasonal than it is in North America. Australians tend to think of fur felts as good all year around, a lot of Akubras are sold for Christmas. I liked the distinction made on wet versus dry heat, but there is also day versus night heat to consider. I would much...

Akubra also makes The Adventurer!

This Akubra is stocked in the US so size exchanges are not a problem for US customers, and we or one of our dealers will happily send one to the Philippines.

Re: 1970's Morgan Whips

I just quizzed David and Dorothy, 'it was a long time ago' was the answer i got when trying to get a closer date. I have a slightly higher resolution view of the picture here and I am pretty sure the hang tag says 'braided calfskin' which means it was likely during the kangaroo embargo but I'm going...

Re: Kangaroo hide utilization?

Hi Aldo! We make our belts from the centers of skins used for whipmaking and don't think that makes too thick a belt, we pare the strands to make them fit in more snugly but don't take any thickness off. Of course it helps if you are making a series of whips so therefore have a series of centers in ...

I'm very glad you are experienced with, and like Akubras Mr Michaelson, and glad you've tried on an Adventurer. Alas, I don't think David's notes on the phone conversation have survived, but they are there related there in the crown and brim of the Adventurer. Stolen Terry Jacka 10' black bullwhip

On March 19 2009 we at David Morgan shipped out one of our last Terry Jacka whips from stock, a 455c-blk black 10' bullwhip, along with a couple DVDs. We have just heard back from the card company that the order was a fraud: the person who made the order used a stolen card. The card holder denied ma...

Re: what is the best oil to use on a whip and where to get it ?

Avoid neets foot oil, it oversoftens leather. Looking at prices including shipping, I don't understand why it is better to go direct to Pecard other than a reputable whipmaker, thereby supporting the industry, unless perhaps you live near Wisconsin and the few days ground shipping are a critical fac...

I agree that the maker's skill is first order when looking at the quality of a certain design of whip.
