The side dents need to come down at an angle. You have the, coming down straight. If you fix that, I think the hat will look even better. Great looking gear, by the way.

turn on my hat??????
Huh :[

have made the front of the brim lower, will try for a bit more, and have also angled the sides as best I can.

Also I have "distressed" with some ash...which seems to give it a more aged look without smelling like a Nepalise bar yet

Im kinda happy, but welcome any DETAILED instructions...with pics would help

I have added 4 more shots at the beginning of the link

"The turn" is basically that. If you pay attention to the hat in the Cairo street scenes especially, you'll notice the ribbon isn't directly over Ford's ear.. The hat is turned, thus giving it that floppy distorted look and "swoosh" to the brim. Though, I've tried it, and it's VERY uncomfortable. Ford didn't like it I've heard but Nadoolman [spelling?] the costume designer added that touch to make the hat stand out from the sea of normal fedoras. It looks good but doing it makes you feel as if your head's screwed on wrong.. to me at least.

I suggest playing with the brim to give it that swoop. Go over to theraider.net and study some screenshots from Raiders and see which hat you'd like to mimic.

But me personally, I like your hat as it is. And if you're going for more of an overall Indy feel vs being screen/scene accurate, I think it looks great! If you are shooting toward a more screen accurate look, I suggest doing what Dave said and making the dents angular.

Great stuff man!

Randy

P.S You asked for honest opinions and I gave mine. As much as we all like the screen look, we can sometimes loose sight of our own personality in selecting the look of our gear. [Myself included.. :[ ] And like I said, if you're going for the general look of Raiders, you have it down good. Plus, in all honesty, most people wouldn't know the difference anyway. Only nuts like us. haha

good criticism!....and yes of course I asked so thanks.

Had the hat propped last night to get the brim a little more to my liking, so I think I'll leave it there.
I agree personal taste should win in the end....heck it would get an Indy comment at the moment...so thats the best bit.

Mixing my styles a bit....but for now my Raiders bashed Fed, will have to go with my Crystal Skull gear...INCLUDING a very SA stubble. My whip comes next week....and then I might put the camera on timer.

Hope you guys approve
