The "thickness" of the felt makes me feel "Jersey Jones" and his Fieldmaster/Camptown. The color is off from a Jimmy Pierce Design.

Yes, JPD, PB, AB, and AF use the exact same felt in beaver and rabbit (with the exception that JPD had a blended felt used on the $100 Raider, which currently comes in full rabbit now.) When you order these really tall versions of an Indy hat you're not keeping the brim dimensions the same as what they'd be on a 5 1/2" open crown hat are you? I can't help but think that 6 1/4" with the 2 3/4" by 2 1/2" brim specs would look more like a top hat than a Raiders at...

IMHO, the quintessential "Indy" look is "tall." The appearance of height, of course, should be created by considering your facial/head proportions. What is "tall" for me, may look simply crazy on you.

Brims can always be trimmed; correct? But adding more crown, now that's another proposition.

The crown, creased is 5 and 1/8. It started out, at just about 6 and 1/4, but I wanted a "serious center dent." That crown is far too tall for most.

What I have done (for what it is worth), is several applications of Scouts. Let dry. Steam to activate the stiffener. Let dry. Iron the brim flat. Pull the hat over your Lamode. Using a hand held steamer (I have a "Jiffy"), steam the brim edge, using an arcing motion with the highest point...
