Hey Baddates1, Sorry for the late reply I have been away on business, wish whip making was my first job but that's not the case. Classic Bullwhips Beginner/Budget Indy Whip
I have been working on this overall project for quite some time now (over a year) and with all the posts about budget whips popping up I figured that it was the perfect time to show what I have been working on. As far as I know, English kip is oiled too, so I don't know what kind of material James used. All of these styles are not oiled like drum stu...

I have not heard yet of any issue of the dye wearing at that location, I have seen whips that have been dyed where there color wears near the point of the whip for obvious reasons (it is more noticeable on whips with colors like red) Riku1914 you have to keep in mind that Nebraska Schulte's whip is ...

Re: Saddle tan display page
I applied plaiting soap and shellaced the swatch because I knew someone would ask about it. Plaiting soap does darken the leather a little but nowhere near the color of the whip you posted riku1914. Cowhide in natural always tends to be lighter in color then kangaroo in natural.

What I meant by the morgan comment, the morgan whips are bound with cotton, not artificial sinew, so the transition is much looser. Hey Riku1914, From my experience cowhide whips take a bit longer to break in than kangaroo, for your next I would suggest doing a little tighter/more binding at the transition zone and layering it so as you go farther down the thong there is less binding then where the handle and thong meet, this ju...

It also depends an who produces the paracord, I have seen some 650 that is the same size as 550 but have also seen 650 that is a little bigger than 550. The main difference though is the center core strands.

Hey Riku, I would recommend not using leather that is classified as upholstery or garment for whipmaking. While this leather looks very nice it is to soft/spongy for the pulling tension required.
