So I was looking at the Performance Hybrid whips that Lauren Wickline makes, and after doing some digging I found that the way
she attaches the thong to the handle is with a French Grapevine knot. I learned how to do one, and I'm going to attach the thong
of my little own "performance hybrid" ( It's a nylon whip thong, attached to a well seasoned osage orange handle ) I wanted to
know how to tie it off once I get down the length of the nylon strands, All the sources I have found just bind it off and tie
a turks head over it, but the performance hybrid whips don't do this, and I wanted to know if anybody knew how to tie
of a french grapevine knot without doing this?
Thank you in advance if anybody knows the answer to this.
French Grapevine knot.

Oh thank you it seems to simple now, I guess you do the same thing with two strands? She probably places the strands within
themselves though right?

I've seen a PH whip that had a two color grapevine, but I don't know how you would split the colors in the strand, and still havetomek9210 wrote:Yep, I think so. BTW the two color grapevine looks great!
a secure connection ( talking about to the thong of the whip )
I'm in no hurry to do this since I have no paracord to pipe to work with, but If someone could shed some light on how to do
that?

Re: French Grapevine knot.
Hey Riku1914,
While tomek9210 references Ron Edwards book I will make the recommendation for getting it, while it mainly talks about making stockwhips I have found it a good resource for general whip making knowledge (I would highly suggest getting a copy, great reference) As for the grapevine knot Lauren uses on the Performance Hybrid whips it is the same that Ron Edwards references in his book except for the part where it loops back on itself to lock off the strand (the part where it just wraps around and there is no grapevine), she just melts the last strands when the length wanted is reached. As for the flipping of colors all you do is just place one strand on top of the other one, when you make the knot it flips it so that the color that was under before is now on top, that simple. Hope that helped.
Keep Crackin,
James

Re: French Grapevine knot.
Could somebody that has a Performance Hybrid snap a shot of where the grapevine knot ends? I understand for the most part what
you guys are saying, but as always, a visual aid helps.
I'm still going to make leather whips predominantly, but I still plan on making my own little performance hybrids soon, and I really
love to way lauren makes them, so I'm going to "cough cough" copy "cough cough" her.
