Whip Maintenance Kit

Post by classicbullwhips »

Hey All,

There have been a lot of questions asked recently about properly caring for your whips. About a year ago I started compiling components to make up a well rounded whip maintenance kit. This kit contains everything that you need to take care of and properly maintain your whips.

This kit includes the following:
-- Cleaning Cloth (perfect for wiping off any surface dirt and grime on the thong and fall of your whip)
-- Cleaning Brush (perfect size for cleaning away the dirt and grime that may get stuck between the strands of your whip)
-- 1 Blunt Lacing Fid (helpful in removing knots in your fall or popper/cracker, also perfect for helping to change your fall)
-- 1 Fall (choice of: Black Latigo, Brown Latigo or Whitehide)
-- 5 Poppers/Crackers
-- 4oz Pecard Leather Dressing
-- Whip Dust/Storage Bag (light weight, breathable, muslin bag - fits Indy style whips)
-- Carrying Bag to hold all maintenance products

Let me know what you guys think! :D

If interested in this kit, take a look over at the vendor section (link below) for further details.

That's a great idea! I've toyed around with the idea of a whip maintenance kit myself but never that seriously.

I include with all my whips a "maintenance kit" but it's just the usual, few crackers, a fall, pecards, and a maintenance guide.

The cloth, brush, bag, and ESPECIALLY the fid is a GREAT idea. What do you think about including a super jumbo perma lok

needle? I have one that I used to use for knots with really wide lace, but now I only use it for replacing falls. It's easy enough

to do it with one, but it definitely does cut down time when replacing a fall. No need to open up the fall hitch with the fid or

anything.

I was fortunate enough to win one of these kits at the QM Summit in November and it has proven invaluable to have everything I need already assembled and ready to go.

Hey, James, can you explain more what this is? Whip Dust? And does it "fit" and Indy style whip?

Thanks!

Hey Daren,

It is exactly like it sounds, it is a dust/storage bag in a light weight breathable muslin material to store a whip in after maintaining or between cracking sessions. I relate it to the dust/storage bags that come with expensive womens jewlery where it can be stored between wearing. The bag that comes with the Whip Maintence Kit is large enough to fit an Indy style whip. Hope that helps to clarify, let me know if you have any more questions, I am always more than happy to answer.

Keep Crackin,
James

James, I know you mentioned to me about this back when I ordered my whip from you--glad to hear this great kit is now available from your site!

:TOH: Best wishes,

P.S. Just learned some new cracks yesterday, and the whip handled beautifully! :whip:
