I ordered my MK VII (replica) from WPG too and didn't have to pay any duty. It depends on how they declare the article and the worth... my package said: canvas bag, 20 $...

You could also ask them to declare it as a "gift" - then it's also rather unlikely that you get charged.

why not try the bag strap available at Texas Action Gear - unfortunately the website seems to have problems - I can't open it. http://www.texasactiongear.com I think they said something that the bag strap will not fade out. I have one and like it very much but I haven't tested it in humid climate yet.

I also ordered mine (raiders, auth. brown lambskin) a bit larger so I can wear a sweatshirt under it. Lambskin is supposed to be too thin for hard winters.

Mine is a little too large at the shoulders but it's ok to me.

I don't know much about wested but I think they have enough staff to do the daily work and to produce the jackets. I think Peter is more involved in the design-stuff so the sooner you place your order the faster you'll get your jacket.

As you said there is no perfect leather... the one will be too warm in the desert or the jungle, the other one maybe is not tough enough. Although Indy wore his jacket everywhere (ice, snow, rain, desert, ...) this is not realistic I guess. You might have to define where you want to wear your wested...

Not an aussie but let me reply anyway: labeling a shipment as "gift" may reduce the risk of being charged but I think if the package looks too big or valuable they might check if it's really a gift. A friend ordered something in the US and had to pay customs duty even though it was labeled...

If you are willing to pay 15 bucks for a nice strap, why not pay 19,99 $ and get one from Texas Action Gear? the problem with that are the shipping costs...
