What to do when waiting for 'the jacket'

Post by Dre »

Well it's been almost 2 weeks since i ordered my ToD Auth Goat from wested. Im finding myself checking my email pretty constantly each day - even though i know it'd still be about a week after they send it that i will receive it.

So what did you guys do while you waited for your indy jackets to arrive?

Well i went and bought a web belt from an army surplus store - 10 bucks Australian...not bad! probably the cheapest gear avaliable hehe.
i'd like to go and get a bag as well..but id rather buy one in a store than order one on the internet if i can. and im not so sure i want a real mkvii either, with the asbestos or whatever the stuff is that came in the actual masks =P

writeknife: yeah that'd help a bit =P hehe

Trust me, the asbestos wont be a problem with the bags. If you want an original, get it. Any original is better than a repro.

Think about nothing else than your jacket, it helps naturally distress yourself to match all your other distressed gear

Hey Dre, I'm in the same situation!!!

What I do: checking mail emails quite often (like you), thinking about the moment when I open the box and feel, smell, wear my wested for the first time (it has something sexual I think  ), buy other indy-related stuff (nice IMCO-lighters for example), go shopping with the hope of finding a nice kahki-coloured shirt for women (seems impossible at the moment), checking emails again,...

But I think waiting is a part of this "wested-magic". Like I often said: like waiting for x-mas. when you get the wested, this excitement will be over!

Dre -
1- Decide where you want to take the photo that you will share with COW members.
2- Start coaching a family member on how not to stick their thumb in front of the lense / Start learning how to use the timer mode (when your family members get fed up re-taking your photo)
3- Check your supply of Pecard's
4- Watch and re-watch the Indy movie representative of your jacket type.
5- Figure out what you want to put in your jacket pockets.
6- Read up on COW posts on distressing your jacket then look at yourself in the mirror and repeat over and over: There but for the grace of God go I ... I will not purposely scratch up my jacket (repeat)
7- Crack your bullwhip (if no bullwhip yet, polish your Indy boots, if no Indy boots, break in your fedora, if no fedora, ... write Santa and lie that you've been a good little boy.
8- Find a nice wood hanger for your new jacket.
9- Post pathetic post replies on COW on how your jacket will "complete you"
10- And lastly, explain to your other jackets that despite the fact you won't be wearing them anymore ... you want to 'stay friends' and will always think kindly of them.  8)

I remain,

convince yourself that you will never have this jacket or add 2 weeks for the arrival. Time will appeare extremely long and by the same way don't affect you.

You are being mean Tone!

Ah, but the smell of the new leather, the creamy drape of the sleeves and the firm snap of collar as you put it on for the first time will be all the better for it! :) Just to be even meaner. ;)

Don't mind Dre... I'm also waiting. What is your production number? I can't remember mind but I think I ordered earlier then you so I'm first ;-). Indiana_Tom, who's production no. (not his of course... I'm talking about the jacket) was 10 no. before mine and he got his one last friday. So maybe I'll get mine this week or next.

I ordered lamb by the way. Just be patient and don't worry. And I have to add: you have to plan more time on shippment and customs - I live in Europe - no customs to worry about.

Petting zoo is a great idea: lambs (baby sheep), adult sheep, goats ... get an imagination of how your jacket will be... (Oh, I'm mean, poor animals     ).

my order number is 4584
odd that they're taking so long with these ones...i spose they've either got an influx of orders, or making up other stock is slowing down orders.

ah well, ill just have to learn patience =) ive got other clothes i can wear in the meantime i suppose =) hehe

Now I recall: my jacket's number is 4564, Tom's was 4554. No. 4 in the end... coincidence?:?:

Don't worry, I even dream of getting the jacket. Last night I had some kind of nightmare: the jacket was far too long.

I like how it feels to wait: feelng this excitement every day. I waited to get such a jacket for so many years, one more week is no problem.

We could open a self-help group for those how cannot stand the waiting... talking about your problems makes it easier.

ah k..hmm seems my jacket is a fair bit off still =(

it's not so much waiting to get the actual jacket that bothers me so much..it's wondering wether it fits right or not. i keep thinking that perhaps the shoulder measurement i gave them is wrong or that the tailor who measured me did the sleeves wrong and things like that. id just like the worry to be over =P

but wait i must i suppose!

My number, for an order placed July 18, is 4587. Guess I've got a while yet to wait!

Angst is sometimes enhanced by walking by Wilson's in the local mall. Not that I'm tempted by their limited product, but it's a reminder...

it would seem my jacket has been packaged and sent!

pandora: is your jacket done and sent yet? though as a thought, they might happen to do some of the jackets out of production number depending on the hide and such?

exciting news

@Dre: I emailed with Gemma today and she told me that one of the cutters was out of town for 2 weeks and when he returned started continuing with higher production numbers and must have skipped some. Bute she promised that my jacket will be completed this week so I'll get it next week I hope.

i feel somewhat guilty that mine got done before yours though Pandora...sorry to hear that you have a longer wait - it's unfair on you seeing as you ordered before me.

My advice for getting through the wait?
DO NOT FREQUENT THIS SITE.
It will only make it worse, I suggest another hobby for at least a month.

Now it's at heathrow airport. Odd that it said left origin country yet it says Heathrow airport - arrived at outward airport. does that mean it'd be in australia, or it's still at heathrow?

@Dre: don't mind, I'm sure to get it next week and I'm in the lucky position not to be charged with any customs. And I'm very patient. Also get packages almost every day because I ordered quite a lot from ebay. That makes waiting much easier.

For those who are interested, here is the mail I got from Gemma:
Dear Claudia,
I am very sorry for the delay in your jacket being made the leather
cutter has been away for 2 weeks and so have machines but back now and
when they come back they made newer jacket first then the old orders but
your jacket will be completed this week.

Cheers Gemma

Ive been holding myself back from checking my order number (it was to painful I HAD TO CHECK!!)

And it turns out im 4573 so i shouldnt be to far off, but it does kinda burn seeing others get theres before me...

As others said its good to just order other indygear, thats the hard part though, I already have bought a Headpiece To The Staff Of Ra AND some Carolina lookalikes. They have both been shipped and theyve both arrived and ive started breaking the boots. Now all i can do is watch Raiders Over and over and over again......

Hi,

The wait is killing me too.

Gemma did say she was posting more jackets today (Monday), so some lucky bleeder is getting a jacket and not me!!!!

And #### my bank refused payment on the shirt and pants...they are in big trouble the money is there. How dare they spoil my enjoyment.

So for me while I wait I will harrass the bank manager.

Nope... When he sees the jacket/certificate and the pants/shirt he's probably gonna wanna order some too (thank goodness we're different sizes or I might loose the stuff when it gets here).... (I'm sure he would be a COWer, except that he hates Email/chat/computer forums, so wouldnt enjoying talking over the interweb, I'm not real big into internet chat/forumage either, at least not until I discovered COW ;c)

My order was processed the day after it was placed (I beleive) and in the 'processing' they sent a comfirmation Email which had my order number in it... but I'm still a newbie

my jacket is still in the making I'm assuming... unless they've sent me a 'shipping Email' in the two minutes sense I've last checked :c)

Yeah so far its been about 13 days of Email checking sense I got my order confirmation, heh there really isnt even a point right now, but hey, cant blame me for being hopeful ;c)

at least I'm responding to Emails about 3 times more promptly now and thankfully, I'm staying pretty busy with school/theatre or I'd be going (extra) bonkers...
