Re: DOD hat is in a new color!
I recall Adventurebilt originally provided a Raiders style fedora during their pitch to produce the hat for the movie and it almost cost them as Spielberg and co. were looking for something more resembling LC to keep with the consistency of the series. I remember something along those lines, too. T...

Which brings me to the Fed IV and Akubra. I have an old Akubra Adventurer. I know, it's not very much an Indy hat. I bought it back before I knew any better. But, let me tell you this: it is one tough hat. It became my everyday hat, or my chore hat, if you will. I've worn it in all kinds of weather...

I have 2 Morgan whips. 1 is 12' and, according to the person that I bought it from, it was first purchased in 2001. The other is a newer 8' that is from 2008. I noticed the newer 8'whip has the knot beginning 6" from the foundation. The 12' is farther from the foundation by about 1/2 to 3/4 of ...

I ordered a 1936 Indy (10') from Paul a few years ago. In all actuality, the objects that slaves were beaten with bear little resemblance to the whips we use for sport cracking. I know this is a late comment but I think the construction of the whips that Morgan was making in the late 70s contributes to the ropeyness of the Raiders whips. I have a 1936 Indy from Paul at Midwest whips. It is made as close to the construction of the 70s Morgan's as you can get an it's like a l...

If they want a darker whip with darker knots, like kotcs they could go this route.

Late to the game but there are a few things to consider. Like: What do you plan to do with it? Complicated, rapid cracks are better done with shorter whips. Wraps and such benefit from extra length. How big are you? A bigger, taller person would have an easier time with a longer whip than a shorter ...
