Just to throw in my 2 pennies...don't base your buying decision solely on material. The Keppler and Adventurebilt Rabbit are both around the same price, but even though the Keppler is a beaver blend I would still recommend the Adventurebilt because it is handmade, whereas the Keppler is still basica...

Re: The Big Head Dilemma

I think my problem is that I have a more oval shaped head, and not a more "normal" ?rounder shape. I'm almost at my wits end when it comes to finding something that fits, and bespoke hats can be painfully expensive. This is called a "long oval" and you're right, a regular round ...

Don't forget that Indy's lid appears to survive all these perils in the movies, not real life. In reality his lid probably would have tapered and got all out of shape pretty quick. Many of us have a lot invested in a good replica fedora to capture the look of the film hat, and it can be very disappo...

Should I take my Adventurebilt to Hawaii?

Well, I leave for the Big Island next Friday and I can't decide which hat to take. I think it's between my AB or Akubra Traveller. It's gonna be hot, humid, and probably rainy. Part of me says the Traveller is the practical choice since it's crushable (for the luggage bin on the plane), unlined (bet...

Glad someone decided to order one of these, while it may not be 100% accurate it looks like a decent hat for the money, and everyone has to start somewhere. Besides WE might know that a teardrop crown is not accurate, but I'll bet anyone who sees you wearing this hat will instantly think Indy. How i...

Re: Need Panama advice

I was going to post this at the Fedora Lounge, but I couldn't find it. I'm really out of the loop. Anyway, I was looking at this montecristi, and I can't decide if it's a GOOD hat or one that will crack in a few days. I need someone who knows panamas, which I admittedly do not. The price seems too ...

Well, I have owned an Akubra Fed and Fed Deluxe, and I currently own a Keppler and two beaver Adventurebilts, one brown and one grey both in the Last Crusade style. Back when I got my Keppler, I think it was viewed as a step above the Akubras because it was a beaver blend, and also because Lee had n...

Just to add to the confusion, it has been my experience (and I think some others' here too) that Akubras run big. I have had my Keppler for some time now, and just got an Adventurebilt a couple of weeks ago. I would also have to vote for the AB, hands down. The quality of the felt, sweatband, liner are way ahead of the Keppler and it's hand made. The AB 100% beaver felt is very soft and pliable, while the Keppl...

New Aldens owner, fitting question

Well just got my new 405s from shoecentral.com on Friday, great service I must say considering they had them shipped from the factory to their shop, then sent them to me Priority Mail no charge. First of all, these have got to be the best made shoes I've ever owned. Top notch construction all around...
