Very nice revolver! At that price, you practically stole it! Having seen this, I'd be even less apt to cut it. It's nice. If you want some aftermarket wood grips that look correct, I know will fit because I've put them on my pistols, and won't break the bank (I'm talking less than $45 and to your do...

Re: Why a 4" barrel?

Thanks micsteam. You're correct, the Heavy Duty was an N-framed revolver (sized to take the 44, and technically 45) barreled and bored for a 38. Chenricy, I'd not cut it. I'd consider buying one already cut, but would NOT ever do it to a revolver under my care. As for "buy another barrel and ha...

Not so much, Cajunkraut, as they at least had a clip attached to the barrel that protected the end of the rod up until after WW2, then they enclosed the rod in a recess. Regard! M I'm not wanting to step on toes, but I think you need to flip the order on when S&W added/removed the 'full-shroud'...

Awesome job! I feel your pain with sewing those toe plugs! Also, thanks for the kind words. I'm sorry I didn't mention it earlier, but did you double the thickness of leather on the plug itself? You basically cut two plugs, glue them together and then sand it at a slight taper, like a keystone, with...

Yes, this is TOTALLY capable of being repaired. People tend to forget that the length should be adjusted accordingly based off their torso length. Maybe Onstat has a long torso and requires that extra length. Exactly why I advised him to double check. I never bought the original Westeds because they told me it had a 26" length back. On me t...

Onstat, If I can offer up one bit of advice, I'd say double-check the back length by comparing a sport coat or some other jacket. At worst, tape paper together to get the length you are considering and then have someone tape/hold it to your back and see where it hits. You said you'll be wearing this...
