Garrett, Welcome, man! That hat looks AWESOME! \:D/ You gotta throw up that pic of you wearing the hat because the hat looks great and great on you as well. John is a pleasure to deal with and I can't wait to get my next hat as it will come with one of those classy hat boxes. Lots of luck with that ...
Great review and FANTASTIC hat! Wear it in good health and enjoy the heck out of it.
John and his work are high quality and that ribbon is just perfect!
Yes, Michael, it is a Raiders. And that is #13, Tibor. I love her!
I will try for some other pics. (That always takes me awhile. ) It is the shrunken lamb though and not very striated.
Thanks for the kind words, RC! It really does fit great -- I just got lucky.
Tony is another great artist I got to speak with.
I don't mind saying who owned it -- I just don't know if they care.
Figured I would post some pics of my Nowak shrunken lamb that I bought off a fellow COWer. The legends are true -- the jacket is just AMAZING and the fit is great. I spoke to Tony to tell him that I love it so much that I will be ordering one in the near future. Thanks, Frank :TOH: http://i625.photo...
FANTASTIC, Michael! \:D/ Wear that in good health. The pics look great and thanks for all the info as well. I have spoken to Tony by phone after I picked up a shrunken lamb TN second hand and he is a great guy to speak with. I will be ordering from him soon. Lots of luck with your jacket. Quite simp...
During a walk in two different local parks over the holiday weekend, I had two people approach me with compliments about my hat -- the "WatchEddie." I was more than happy to tell them about it and passed along John's card as well. (keep them tucked in the hat ;) ) Just placed my order with...
Hey, Mitch! Hat (and pics) great as always! :D My vote is going to have to be higher although I agree with Dave and say wear it how it feels comfortable to you. 'Course it is a Penman so you could probably wear it sideways and backwards and it will still look good. (How's that for a kiss up?) ...
Nice catch, Dave! This has been on TV by me recently and I noticed the same thing. All of a sudden you see hats where you never did before. Now I know I have an addiction.
Nice hat! Looks great on you too! I'm sure it will get even better as you wear it as well.
I haven't gotten one of these yet, but have been very tempted. David seems like a great fellow to deal with also.
Thanks for the insight, Mitch. I was actually thinking of the "Marlo" as well. First choices were the Raiders in charcoal or a "Watchmen" in Indy Brown, but the "Marlo" has always caught my eye. Maybe a "Marlo" with the "Watchmen" colors utlizing the...
Thanks, Mitch! ;) How did I do picture wise? [-o< I am honored to have you chim in, Steve, and I agree as well. The trouble now is deciding what type of hat to order next and in what color? :-k I am leaning toward a charcoal gray Raiders, although everyone (who sees me wear hats, that is) has really...
John is dream to work with. I love seeing different style Penmans because of this. Plus John is like an artist. That charcoal Watch/Eddie looks great. I'm glad I went with charcoal with this current hat. I was worried it might be too dark. Obviously not. I like the specs on your Watch/Eddie; much b...
. . . and his hats are pretty good too! :D Just wanted to post some pics and a review of my two fantastic hats by one Mr. John Bending Oak Penman, Sir. ;) These hats speak for themselves thankfully as I knew I would not come close to the Mitch La Rue style of great pics. :TOH: http://i625.photobucke...
Very nice hat and you wear it well! Great pics and review as well. Both John and AB are without question top-notch, high quality -- in terms of people and product! Wear that hat in good health and enjoy comic-con.
Yeah, did not get it for my Florida trip because of the sizing issue. I think they actually had to make a whole new hat due to how large the other was. It all worked out well, for both of us, so I am happy -- AND planning out my straw hat for next summer -- just don't tell my girlfriend, "ANOTH...
I totally agree with Matt. Worth the initial sizing issue. This hat is comfortable, nice looking, and does the job for the summer. My thanks to Peter Bros. (Joe, Karen, Javier, and Shane) for working with me on this one. I am enjoying wearing it. Wear yours in good health, Matt. :TOH: Thanks, Frank ...
Lots of luck with the new jacket. Wear it in good health and can't wait to see those pics. I am leaning toward a good jacket as a near-future gear purchase and am still debating where to purchase.
Great find! Wear it in good health . . . and adventuring. :D Definitely use that Pecards. It's great for all your leather items. I am definitely leaning toward another jacket for my next gear purchase . . . which I will set on fire if Holt advises me to do so. :TOH:  Thanks for sharing, Frank
I was thinking of ordering a Wested in the near future as well. So this thread and the one about Wested sizing for beginners have really piqued my interest (along with my confusion :-k ). I started doing the research and it appears that a talk over the phone to Wested might be the best bet eventuall...
mcmanm --
I'm am going with the Raiders look for myself like I mentioned via PM using my JPD specs. The dark brown straw with black ribbon that you chose inspired me. Just keep me posted on how you progress.
I was their last order with the May special. After mcmanm's order I decided to go with the dark brown Milan straw and black ribbon as well. I was told that 2 6/8 (3/4) in. brim might be closer to 2 5/8 due to how the straw comes together. And a stiffener of medium leaning toward heavy to be most lik...
I have owned Wade's super-whip holder for eight months now in the Raiders color and it is a big leap ahead from my old whip holder that I needed to use a velcro strap with. I have said it before, Wade's gear is great quality and just plain AWESOME!
Let a message asking if all was well, if any help was needed, and appraising him of the situation. Have not tried since then (Tuesday night), but was first time in a long time that I was able to leave a message at all.
Again, hopefully something good follows.
Have to agree with Hollowpond. Great group of people, lots of cool information, but once the addiction sets in look out. By the way, can anyone lend me some money?
Welcome!
