That looks to be goatskin.

Nice looking jacket. congrats.

some advice, Pecard the jacket right away. I see it is screaming for some leather lotion. Just check out that collar.

yes pecards. the best leather lotion that is around in the world.

Museums use it to bring back life to old, old, old leather that has been dryed out for many, many years.

your jacket looks like it needs a coat of pecards.especially the collar.

check the gear care forum.

all over the jacket?

strange really it just seems to be the collar thats in that state the rest of the jacket is fine :) but iv ordered some pecard so il apply it as soon as it arrives.

do you just apply it with your fingers straight from the tub?

Well it says its a 38 and im a chest 38 so it fits but it feels a little bit on the small side, Il get some pics taken with the jacket on and see what you guys think. By the way the buckles on the storm flaps are they meant to be done up or left loose?

Great find! Wear it in good health . . . and adventuring. :D Definitely use that Pecards. It's great for all your leather items. I am definitely leaning toward another jacket for my next gear purchase . . .which I will set on fire if Holt advises me to do so. :TOH:

Thanks for sharing,

Nice buy. Was the jacket in the US?

If you are going to have it cleaned I think I might apply the dressing first, then again after you get it back. Leather cleaning can dry out leather and I don't think you want the jacket any dryer than it looks now.

Regarding Pecards: Don't bother with the soft cloth. Michaelson recommended years ago just to use your hands to apply the dressing. That way you can feel the areas that need more or less dressing while being cautious not to over-apply. I've been doing that with my jackets, whips and leather gear for years now (thanks Michaelson) and it works great! Congrats on your jacket by the way! The Expedition is tough as nails and will last you a LONG time!

It is fantastic. :) I can't help but love the colour. My Expedition, no matter what lighting, never looks that lovely and brown, more
a very dark brown, nearly black.
What a great find!

That other thread listed several different picards to use, which one would make the most sense for a goatskin Expo?

something like a jell or oil. since goatskin is thight pored it will take longer to soak up standard pecards dressing.

need more answers? or info? then ask in the gear care section. thats why we have it ;)

Yeah, use the 'Leather Creme'. It's a jell, and does not have as much beeswax as standard Pecards.

Once again, congratulations on your new acquistion. You're going to make a LONG time friend as you wear that in.

£30?! Thats an incredible price for a G+B. Wow man am I jealous you got one so cheap!! You could end up spending more just getting some Pecards!

I love the G+B - and like everyone says it is TOUGH so it will last you a loong time, even if it has been beat up a bit already.

Enjoy
