TN Temple of Doom (orb)

Post by orb »

Today is a good day! I received both of my new TN jackets from the Master himself and I present you here the right Temple of Doom jacket!
I have sold both of my Wested TOD (NH specs) jackets because there weren't good enough stitched, I didn't liked the black marks in the washed goat.
Let the pictures speak of the TN TOD Jacket I just pulled out of the Bag. http://www.bilder-space.de/show.php?fil ... uAfS0m.JPG
http://www.bilder-space.de/show.php?fil ... 4PgNEE.JPG
http://www.bilder-space.de/show.php?fil ... 6JrOjg.JPG

I really like his happy cow leather the most of all my 6 TN jackets. It's totally soft and I love that rusty tone. It looks like suede but it isn't.
That jacket really looks like Temple of Doom in every light.
Thanks to RCSignals for his specs!

Regards

Gerald

Well Holt this is the same leather as RC's Jacket.
Front Length: 23,5" Including Collar Stand
Back Length 25"

Don't let fool you on the length. I wear those pair of jeans much below the waistline.
I'm 5ft. 10"

The jacket nearly got no distressing. It's all the leather. I know those TN stuff looks heavily distressed but it isn't.
Don't be afraid of the little baby distressing Holt! Remember my Italian Cowhide LC? I pecarded it and the distressing isn't visible anymore.
It wasn't even much visible before. Only if you use some flash for the pics.

Will make better pictures soon of my TOD when I have adjusted the sidestraps and worn in a bit.

Regards

well it makes a big difference when we can see it on a person rather then laying on the floor. even though they are the same!

and why cant nobody understand why I dont like distressed leathers?

I just like a new finish leather jacket that I can wear in myself!

Why don't you like it?

Holt you can wear this jacket also in by yourself. It doesn't come already worn.
So I came to the conclusion when your jacket is used and naturally distressed once you don't like it anymore? ;)
I'm pretty sure a naturally distressed jacket from a well known british Vendor here will never look like it did in the movie.

Thanks for all the positiv inputs :notworthy: ! The fit is quite good. I must say that hide really doesn't need much breaking in time.
The leather is so soft but really tough. I never had something similar yet. It nearly feets like wearing some rubber suit that molds your body!
So it will look much better on me in a few weeks!

Can I ask what the chest measurement of the jacket is (like what you ordered) and what you actual chest size? Can you put up a pic of the jacket zipped all the way up if possible?

22" Chest Across

My chestsize is only 38" at the moment.
I always get atleast jackets with 22" to 22,5" in the chest. I also like to wear it in Winter with some sweater underneath.
I may also bulk up a bit in the future. I got the back across section a bit more tappered! 19" instead of 20".
Except for the back it's 1:1 HF size.
Btw. a picture of my Ex Wested Washed Goat TOD Jacket. Same Size except for the back across!

Thanks for the info orb. Thats kind of what I was thinking as well. I'm thinking of getting a TN Raiders jacket, but I wasn't sure if I should get my 21" that I am, or if I should get a 22" just for a slightly more room fit. I have a 21" Wested ROLA and it fits like a dream, but with some thicker sweaters etc and weight that could be gained, the 22" might be better. And its only an inch more so it should be good. I'm sure Tony could work it out, like he does with everyone elses jackets. ;)

Glad to help!
May you find this interesting too. The Mutt Jacket was 22.5" at Chest and that on slim Shia!
You can also get the back across section a bit smaller. If you don't got a wide back.

Orb, congrats and there's no need for me to tell you any further how I feel about Tony's jackets!

Holt, I'm just about of the same opinion as you regarding darker and un-distressed jackets. But I think we're dealing with a different idea here. I have a sample of the leather used in Orb's jacket and would not classify it as distressed. That may sound confusing but you need to have it in hand to understand.

Tony is trying hard to develop leathers he feels closely resemble the jacket in a particular movie and there are people REALLY wanting to buy what they feel is as near as possible a duplicate of what they saw on Ford's back in Raider's, Doom, Crusade, or Skull. Tony has already done a lot to change the notions of the original Raider's look and his Crusade jackets are over the top awesome replicas of that movie IMHO. Now he's doing similar with the Doom jacket.

While an LC copy may not be right for me as a jacket to wear in public, Tony will do the jacket any way you want. If you wanted glossy black patent leather he would most likely have no problem with it.

So while I hear what you are saying and know you have said it before, keep in mind this is a choice people are making because Tony is doing the leg work and working hard to come up with some unique leathers that actually aren't distressed in a conventional way.

That is a very nice looking jacket! Certainly has that TOD vibe. On the subject of distressing, I can see Holt´s point - it looks distressed to me, particularly around the pocket and pocket snap. I know the type of leather can help, but surely there has to be at least a little bit of assisted scuffing there.

its just I love the idea of a new finish leather jacket and wear it in. I just dont like the jacket allready looking Indy right out of the bag. I like to wear them in.let them take on natural distressing over time and let it become and old good friend. :D

Im not saying the leather doenst look good. it does. :D

congrats orb

Awesome jacket, Orb! Just beautiful cut and leather. Once I have my striated lamb, I'll be saving up for one of these as well. :P

And I understand what you mean, Holt, on the distressing. For example, with my LC, it's not a jacket that I would wear to a formal occasion but with jeans going to the store? It looks terrific (imo) for something like that. Like Raiders said, Tony has been developing leathers that closely resemble the look of the various movies for his customers that want them. For example, I think the distressing is a major part of the LC look so that's what I went for.

But Tony will work to get the leather/look you want, so if you like the cut of a jacket but don't want it to look distressed, then he'll find a leather that you'll love that fits your needs.

Although the TOD jacket is my least favourite, I have to admit that yours looks terrific.
Even that huge SA zipper looks cool enough. Congratulations  .

Yes Rask people tend to not like the ToD as much, but it is a great jacket, it just doesn't get a lot of screen time. The Cooper influences from their A-2 making are clear.

Great looking jacket. Couldn't tell you if it's completely SA but the pocket size and shape look perfect with that jacket.

Well done TN.

Great jacket, Orb. It has really gotten me into a future TOD purchase in a very dark brown/almost black hide.

Man that jacket zipped up looks like a perfect fit! Great picture! Even the back across looks to be the proper size because it isn't folding into itself or bunching at the shoulder area like some jackets do.
