Re: Can you "un-tan" a whip?

Cool. Thanks for the replies guys. The color I wanted it to stay is more of the opening scene mid to natural tan color. I do understand that over time it will change with use and what not but was just curious to see if there was a way to safely reverse the aging process. After all....it's dead skin ...

Can you "un-tan" a whip?

A year or so ago I purchased a great kangaroo whip from a vendor here in natural tan (Raiders style) that was the perfect color. Over time conditioning it, cracking it, and generally wearing it on my belt it has darkened to a near TOD color. Is there any way to safely bring it back to its natural ta...

Thanks Mitch. The real killer in most costumes is the fit. I've seen hand me down stuff make better costumes than the "real deal" stuff at times. It's all about how you bring it together. :TOH:

Re: The Federation IV Display Page

Here's mine that I bought back in 07. I've since rebashed it a time or two to get that perfect (in my eyes) Raiders look. Steam really helped move it and retain the stiffness once cooled. http://i663.photobucket.com/albums/uu353/Rotundo41/Indy5.jpg http://i663.photobucket.com/albums/uu353/Rotundo41/...

Thanks guys.

The costume base shirt is pretty nice. Thin and breathable but like it said, it was more yellow than it needed to be. A quick dunk in a very diluted black dye with a rinse and it was perfect.

Re: New and improved gear pics

The jacket issue just reminded me of something I've had on my mind for a while. As a point of reference, I'm typically 5'9" barefoot but I've padded these boots to put me up to an easy 5'11" height at around 190lbs. People who have seen and worked with Harrison have said they were surprise...

Thanks guys. I just checked the tag on the pants and it says Savane. They looked very new when I picked them up but they were too brown. I tried wearing them with a "close enough" shirt to a con and pics came out dark brown on the pants and pure yellow on the shirt. That's when I decided t...

Well I finally got all my gear in the mail from members and vendors here so I figured a few shots were in order. First a disclaimer....I used the search function for over an hour to see if it's been discused before but came up with little info so here's my thought. We know there were more than one Fedora used in Raiders. Given the overall floppy nature and generaly distorted look of the SOC hat; is it possible...

I wear a 58 Fed IV. It's a bit on the tight side at times but repeated wear helps fit it better. I'm not brave enough to wear it outside of cons or costume events.

First, what kind of hat are you working with? If its a good quality fur felt (Rabbit or Beaver) then from what I have seen, the sides and back have a gentle curl up. I found the rings at Kmart in the curtain section. They were packaged as rings with some open hooks and clips on the ends of them. I simply opened the hook up wider and removed the ring. I also found the same design at the home depot in the curtain hardware section.
