Re: Can you "un-tan" a whip?
Cool. Thanks for the replies guys. The color I wanted it to stay is more of the opening scene mid to natural tan color. I do understand that over time it will change with use and what not but was just curious to see if there was a way to safely reverse the aging process. After all....it's dead skin ...

Can you "un-tan" a whip?
A year or so ago I purchased a great kangaroo whip from a vendor here in natural tan (Raiders style) that was the perfect color. Over time conditioning it, cracking it, and generally wearing it on my belt it has darkened to a near TOD color. Is there any way to safely bring it back to its natural ta...

Thanks Mitch. The real killer in most costumes is the fit. I've seen hand me down stuff make better costumes than the "real deal" stuff at times. It's all about how you bring it together.

I was showing it off to a friend today and the cracker came off with the knot on the fall. I figured it's just the hard texas grass so it was a perfect time to try that tapered cracker you talked about. #### dude.....that thing is loud!!!!

Here's mine that I bought back in 07. I've since rebashed it a time or two to get that perfect (in my eyes) Raiders look. Steam really helped move it and retain the stiffness once cooled. http://i663.photobucket.com/albums/uu353/Rotundo41/Indy5.jpg http://i663.photobucket.com/albums/uu353/Rotundo41/...

Re: New and improved gear pics
Thanks guys.
The costume base shirt is pretty nice. Thin and breathable but like it said, it was more yellow than it needed to be. A quick dunk in a very diluted black dye with a rinse and it was perfect.

Re: New and improved gear pics
The jacket issue just reminded me of something I've had on my mind for a while. As a point of reference, I'm typically 5'9" barefoot but I've padded these boots to put me up to an easy 5'11" height at around 190lbs. People who have seen and worked with Harrison have said they were surprise...

Re: New and improved gear pics
Thanks guys. I just checked the tag on the pants and it says Savane. They looked very new when I picked them up but they were too brown. I tried wearing them with a "close enough" shirt to a con and pics came out dark brown on the pants and pure yellow on the shirt. That's when I decided t...

New and improved gear pics
Well I finally got all my gear in the mail from members and vendors here so I figured a few shots were in order. The last time I did an Indy costume I was also doing a 300 one for Dragon con and I had a full beard. Now that that's over I can kinda sorta look the part. haha. Gear break down: Fedora: ...

Just remember... when bashing, steam is your friend. I recently rebashed mine after 3 years or more of it being just hand bashed and the steam re-stiffened the brim and nicely set the crown this time. Great product here.

Screen used SOC origin?
First a disclaimer....I used the search function for over an hour to see if it's been discused before but came up with little info so here's my thought. We know there were more than one Fedora used in Raiders. Given the overall floppy nature and generaly distorted look of the SOC hat; is it possible...

Here are some old shots of me in my older gear. I've been out of the Indy thing for a while and am getting back into it now only this time I got rid of the beard. LOL Here's my old cheap jrzjoe whip. Glad I wasn't the only one who had trouble cracking this gargbage whip. http://i663.photobucket.com/...

Re: How many of us actually wear the same size lid as harris
I wear a 58 Fed IV. It's a bit on the tight side at times but repeated wear helps fit it better. I'm not brave enough to wear it outside of cons or costume events.

I have to chime in here.....I have seen some really stupid things at Dragon con in the past. Some rocket scientist brought a pair of REAL Desert eagle 50cal. pistols one year and was posing with them all day for pics for what ever costume it was he had. In his room later someone asked to see them an...

I was able to fix it, however, and actually swing from it into a river twice and its still all there. I would classify it as a costume prop at best.

First, what kind of hat are you working with? If its a good quality fur felt (Rabbit or Beaver) then from what I have seen, the sides and back have a gentle curl up. I would place the hat on your head and with both hands gently curl the sides up while sweeping your hands from front to back until you...

What is that disk on the side of the bag and where can I find them? Also, does any one know where to find the drain holes for the bottom of the bags? Thanks. Alex.

I never said they did it that way in the film. It would take a stunt man with guts of steel to do it but I know there are hundreds of safety precautions in place. I did have a blast doing it and will do it again on dry land once I find a low enough branch. I am no twig either. Just for reference, I ...
