Update on new Todd's standard hides?

Any new info on this I remember he said that he was going to start using a new that was a little bit thicker but with more grain/ texture.

Any one have one of these?

I have a Todd's that arrived last week but don't know if its of the new hide you speak of. I know it has a grey color underneath it when you weather it instead of a tan or brown. Its making it hard to distress it accurately.
