I've had great luck just letting it air out. If the weather is good hang it outside for a while for a day or two (bring it in at night). And you should be good to go.

Definitely break them in yourself. The only thing I did was spray them once with alcohol in a mist bottle. Everything else has been yardwork - and they look great.

I don't know if it was a problem with different batches but I bought a Todd's bag strap 2 years ago and it has NEVER EVER bled onto my shirt. And I have gotten pretty sweaty toting it around in Florida.
