Belt, Strap & Holster - Screen Accuracy Perfectionists

Post by Indiana_Jonesing »

Greetings All,

I need some feedback. There has to be a fairly straight-forward answer, too:

What is the most accurate offering (both in the details/measurements AND color) when it comes to Indy's RAIDER'S holster, gun belt and bag strap (and this includes the look of the strap buckle and the whip holder configuration)?

I know there are MANY options (Texas Action Gear, Lee K., Todd's, WPG, Western Stage Props, Noel Howard), but there's GOT to be a standout in each category. For instance, there are significant color differences between Lee Keppler's holster and Todd’s - not to mention the bag strap offerings that have different indents and vary in color and buckle shapes.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm upgrading my gear and really want the most screen accurate versions of the gun belt, holster & bag strap - all RAIDERS versions. Be as nit-picky and precise as you can, please.

Best Regards and Thanks In Advance,
Jonesing

Hey Jonesing,

I've been after the exact same goal and here is what I have found. AB makes the most SA holster and strap buckle I have seen to date. I have both :)

holster - viewtopic.php?t=26001
AB buckle - viewtopic.php?t=26002

For a gun belt, I've HEARD keppler or NH (who is very hard to get a hold of). Now I do not personally have either as of yet, but I just ordered a gunbelt from Lee. AB is working on one including the original maker's buckle but it shouldn't be out for a few months.

for the bag strap: I heard NH is the winner but again, very hard to reach. I know you have to watch out for this on any strap, but I have heard people complaining about color bleeds on to shirt more with Todd's straps than any others (but of course, this doesn't affect SA and actually, Ford's strap did that as well). Just get some Kiwi Camp Dry Silicone Water Repellent spray with whatever strap you get and you should be fine.

Here was my attempt a little while ago: viewtopic.php?t=29014

Also, my friend IndyWannaBee has made some pretty nice stuff that he may make for others, but I cannot say one way or the other how "EXACT" his stuff is.

Good luck with the search!

VERY Helpful, Red. Thanks!

Any other opinions, gents? Screen accuracy?

I've dealt with Noel Howard many times in the distant past. Does he currently have a website or contact number?

I don't know if it was a problem with different batches but I bought a Todd's bag strap 2 years ago and it has NEVER EVER bled onto my shirt. And I have gotten pretty sweaty toting it around in Florida.

NHowardUk at aol.com is his email, and best way to get hold of him. He may take a few days to respond.

I have his Raiders gunbelt, which is fantastic in colour and finish and overall look - actually mine was the a bit of an odd one which has a few too many holes, but you really can't notice and somehow that appealed to me.

The NH bag strap I have - my Mk VII setup looks fab.

In terms of colour, the NH Raiders holster is just a little more red than the AB (which looks fantastic). Looking at the DVDs, I do think I like the colour of the NH better, but it does not have the grooves around the edge, so not as SA up close as the AB, TR etc. based on looking at pictures.

If you were to get an AB holster and NH belt/strap, I would say you're in fine shape. :)

I am totally happy with the NH Raiders holster, but I have ordered a LC holster from TR, as I build my "Raiders of the Last Crusade" gear (Raiders jacket, pants and shirt, add a Webley, holster and tie).

Oh, I know you are asking about Raiders, but a brief plug for the LC tie that Noel sells, a really nice piece (and I'm willing to bet exactly what the production used).
