My Wested lamb is about 3 years old, and I still love it. In L.A.'s climate, it's the perfect weight for a fall jacket.
I'd easily get lamb again.

Re: The Age of Comfort
Long ago I heard this remark: The Age of Luxury ended when the Age of Comfort Began. So in our current oh-so-casual-sloppy world, one would think that something as "practical" as a fedora might actually become fashionable -- fights melanoma, keep rain off head, block glare into eyes, warm...

I would suggest allowing room for your hair at its longest. If you get it cut, you can always put paper or something inside the sweatband to make up the size, but if you start small you'll have to stretch it. Also, I wouldn't rely on a tape measure. If you have access to a hat shop, grab several dif...

There was an old thread in here somewhere about whether or not to wear a Wested in the rain, but I suppose this is a good a thread as any to weigh in: L.A. had a pretty decent downpour Thursday night and I was caught in it for about 20 minutes -- and stayed high and dry for the duration. I have a la...

Here in Los Angeles the past few nights, it's dipped into the 50s so I brought out the lamb Wested.

Another option is to go to a place that sells Stetsons (or any other brand) and jot down the size AND maker -- this can vary amongst makers (I was told that Italian sizes run big). That way, if Fedora knows you take a 7 1/2 Stetson but, say, a 7 3/8 in some other brand, he can adapt yours accordingly.

I'm quite fond of mine, actually. For around $50, I got something I could wear right away without having to bash it myself (although I must admit the hand-sculpted look you guys achieve looks great). Also, even though it's not screen-accurate, I prefer the look of a teardrop crown. I have yet to wea...

It might seem weird at first, but you quickly get used to the left-hand zip. After wearing Wested jackets exclusively for the past 8 years, I consider right-hand zipper jackets to be very weird and awkward. :-) Agreed! I now wear my Wested lamb much more often than my heavier A-2, so when I go back...

(The main reason I bought a fedora was because I don't carry an umbrella and want to keep the rain off of my head on those rare occasions here in L.A. And it looks sorta cool.)

I know this sounds like spitting hairs but here in the hot and humid south every ounce counts when it comes to wearability. This being the case, I would only consider the lamb. When I got mine, the package was so light I thought maybe they sent me the cloth version by mistake. The lamb is very ligh...

Re: "I really like that hat!"
I was in the St. Louis airport last week, about to venture into 20-degree (F) weather so I suited up with my A-2 bomber jacket (too cold for the lamb Wested) and my Jaxon Iconoclast and stroll up to the rent-a-car counter. The guy looks up and immediately complimented me on my hat -- without using ...

Success!
Well, the saddle soap got rid of 95% of the paint, I'd say. The remainder is really only visible if you know where to look.
In any event, I know longer look like the victim of a bird attack, so thanks again for the tips!

I know nothing about Akubras, but you'll probably grow into it. In college, I took a 7 1/4 hat size; now I'm a 7 1/2, depending on maker -- and I keep my hair relatively short. Your options seem to be get another, smaller hat and hang onto this one until you grow into it, or use some sort of padding...

I have NO IDEA if it's safe for use on leather, but Bestine (rubber cement thinner) also takes sticker glue away. It's INCREDIBLY flammable, too, so use extreme caution. If you ever need to remove a price tag from a hard surface, it works like a charm. But did I mention that I have no idea if it's s...

Any tips out there on how to remove house(?) paint from a leather jacket? I took it to a cleaners but they wanted to charge $20 just to att...
