We've come to the end of an era!!!!

I've not posted for quite some time now, but I thought that I'd come back with some news. Many of you may or may not remember me, I was the one who went to HJ last June( Wait a minute.. a year last June!!) and bought a HJ. My story was about the level of service. I went in dressed smartly and ponder...

Been away awhile, so sorry if this seems a bit late in the day- I have a newish HJ and living in England have been out in all weathers. I do have a little taper but it is easy to cope with. If the hat has been out in the rain, when you get back inside just pop up the crown and let it dry naturaly at...

Well I own a new HJ and just love the quality. I can't really compare with any others as I only have this one. But it's a great hat and as I'm sure we all are, I'm very much looking forward to the new and improved 'old' HJ block and felt.

Sounds good, but having just got a HJ last month from the shop, I find it strainge that the email says they were going to change the liner from black back to white. They are all white liners now!??

Welcome Chris, I'm new to the forum as well although like you had been hanging around for quite some time in the background. Anyway, enjoy and these guys really know their stuff so ask any question and someone will know. I'm from Cambridgeshire in England, so, again, welcome from this side of the wo...

Congrats Marc, I believe this is a fantastic chance to get more people wearing hats and of course the shear quality of these hats will incourage that as well. This is the sort of news us Europeans were waiting for. Any hat collection would not be complete without one of the most durable and perfectl...

with all this talk of taper I'm already worried and I've only had the hat since Wednesday. What is the best way to avoid it, baring in mind that I will be out in all weathers especially the wet kind! Should I just leave the hat to dry very naturally at room temperature, or should I push out the crow...

Venice pier aye, I presume you are going for a more 'formal' look.

Does anyone have pictures of the AB in the Venice Pier scene and various Raiders scenes so we can place them side by side and compare the different styles?

yeh me too, Fedora can you get the pics up directly on the forum as those likes don't work for me either and as a new HJ owner already out in rain and shine I'd really like to know what to do visualy when the dreaded taper begins.

I agree, I love my HJ and yes the poet is the Indy hat. Herbert Johnson the hat makers once owned their own business and shop, that original shop is gone and they now are a part of Swaine, Adeney and Brigg. Or more accurately it seems that to cut down on costs, Herbert Johnson hats hires out part of...

I must admit that I would also like an AB as having read so many positive comments on the forum they seem like a sound buy. I think the HJ is a very well made hat, so I would be very interested to find out what the comparison is like against your HJ. Please let me know and also I'd be interested to ...

I'm sorry but I may have misled you in my very long story, the other models with wider brims etc were not Poet models but different types of fedora altogether. I just tried all these others on just to seem relaxed about my choice rather than "Oh my G0d, there's the Indy Hat! Let me at it, let m...

I will post pics, once I can figure out how to do it ( not very computer literate I'm afraid) I understand what you say about their attitude and that they can keep their hats gathering dust, but I would imagine 20 years of the same old questions would put their backs up. Having said that, why still ...

Of course it can. My belief is that in actual fact it's obviously not the accent, but the seeming lack of interest in the Herbert Johnson/ Indiana Jones link that did it. Worked though didn't it!

My visit to Herbert Johnson- things could be on the up!

I posted my first message on Wednesday on another topic group, stating that I was going to the Herbert Johnson shop to see how they treated customers who wanted to buy or find out a bit more about THE hat. Michaelson replied, with a wry smile, that I may well come face to face with the same brisk an...

Off to HJ tomorrow

This is my first post, although I have been a silent observer for many many months now. I'm off to London tomorrow to see my wife as it's her birthday and she works just off Picadilli, a matter of only a few hundred metres from the HJ shop. This will also be my first visit to that shop. Having read ...
