Has anyone bought an HJ from this site? They are selling the poets for $225 and are willing to bash any number of styles from the three movies for an additional $15. Looks like they'll even run over it a few times with a truck to get that really rumpled "Cairo" look! Is $225 about ...

It's troublesome to hear all the negativity about US Wings. As I've said earlier, I have a vintage cow and have nothing but praise for it. Well, it's been a couple years since I've visited COW. I found this site back in 2001 and joined up in 2002. Used it to research and purchase my first jacket: a Wested goat. Goat was kind of new to Wested then and it had this dang gray color to it in certain light. I sold it to a fellow COWer and si...

I've had a US Wings Vintage Cow for about three years now, a FS lamb, and used to have a Wested Goat. I've got to admit the Wings is probably my favorite. So I'm thinking about getting a Wings VIP but it looks to me as if the clasps are backwards. I know they're reversed from my Vintage Cow with the...

Who has had success getting their Aldens dyed?

I've read in several threads about people having their Aldens dyed brown instead of the brick-red color that the shoe currently comes in.

Have you had much success and, if so, what kind and color of dye was used on them.

Did you just have it done at a shoe store?

One thing I forgot to add. Using only the RIT dark green dye, the tan bags will be a brilliant dark green. I would suggest either using RIT's color chart suggestion of dark green + tan for olive drab or using some of RIT's color remover after dyeing the bag using only the dark green.

Ok, the dye job is done and a complete success. Not only did the process turn the bag a nice olive drab, but it got rid of the fresh off the assembly line look. Thanks for the reply. I'll have to go find some of that dye. Guess I'll take my chances on its colorfastness. The dying process (or rather all that time in the washer and dryer) ought to add to the break-in of the bag as well.
